Museums & Galleries

Delve into the past of Peace River Country and learn about the homesteaders who helped shape Grande Prairie into the thriving community that it is today, at the Grande Prairie Museum & Heritage Village. Located at Muskoseepi Park, this local history museum features a variety of permanent exhibitions that chronicle the region's pioneer history, alongside a replica of the paleontologist dig that uncovered the fossilized bones of the Edmontosaurus, prehistoric artifacts, and wildlife displays. Temporary exhibitions that showcase a variety of topics are also hosted here. The Heritage Village at the museum is a seasonal attraction that features 14 heritage buildings, each representing a chapter in the history of Grande Prairie. Here, antique vehicles and farm equipment are on display alongside a Heritage Garden and flower beds teeming with color. Although the museum is open year round, the Heritage Village is only accessible from May through September.
