Museums & Galleries

Located in Kamloops, the Secwepemc Museum and Heritage Park aims to preserve the history and culture of British Columbia's Secwepemc Nation. The museum's four galleries display artifacts and historic photographs, giving visitors a glimpse of the lives of the Shuswap people, while the heritage park offers opportunities to explore their traditional territory. Although there are only remains of the former village, the park houses village structures that date back more than 2,000 years and an ethnobotanical garden full of plants once used by the Secwepemc Nation. Visitors to the museum can follow a scenic trail along the South Thompson River to explore everything that the heritage park has to offer.
