The Museo del Sabanero, or the Cowboy Museum, preserves the cowboy culture of Northwestern Costa Rica within a lovingly restored colonial-era house. The region's tropical savanna climate has rendered it ideal for cattle rearing, giving rise to the Liberia's rich and longstanding cattle ranching tradition. Through historic photographs, decorative saddles, lassos and other artifacts, delves into the colorful past of the region, illustrating the story of Gauanacaste's thriving ranches and the cowboy culture they sparked. The museum is conveniently located at the Liberia Cultural Center near the heart of the city.
