Whether you want to learn more about the history of the city that you are in, catch a glimpse of outstanding works of art by the established local artist Fernando Castro Pacheco, or simply enjoy a tour of a historical building, then the Governor’s Palace is where you should be headed. Not only do the murals on the walls depict the history of the city but one can also understand and learn more about the relationship between the Mayas and the Spaniards over the years. Built in 1892, the building is now home to government offices, and guides tours of the historical structure are available. Other facilities at the Governor’s Palace include English descriptions on all exhibits, an open-air courtyard and stunning views from the terrace.
