Outdoor Activities

Spread across 2.5 hectares (6.18 acres), Jardín Botánico Regional “Roger Orellana” is indeed an oasis in the midst of concrete buildings. Established in 1983, it is probably the only place in the city to get an insight into the diverse ecosystems of the Yucatan peninsula. You will find more than 800 types of plants, a variety of avian species and other animals that are endemic to the region. Set in a former henequen plant, the botanical garden features various kinds of forests, mangroves and coastal dunes found only in this peninsula. As you explore this garden, its like you have entered a different landscape. Opt for the thematic tours that not only give you information on these collections but also folklore, myths and historical facts associated with the land and its nature.

Location:  130 Calle 43, Centro de Investigación Científica de Yucatán (CICY)
