Founded in 1959, Museo Regional de Antropología e Historia (Museum of Anthropology and History) in the majestic Palacio Cantón is one of the best places in town to know more about Yucatan. Considered to have a comprehensive collection of Mayan culture, you will get an insight of the state's history, culture and archaeology. Though the exhibits keep changing, you will surely be fascinated by the displays. These include items procured from digs across the Yucatan peninsula. Covering the Preclassic period to the Postclassic period, you will learn about the interesting facets of Mexican culture, including the puzzling Mayan calendar.
