Dining

The massive Phoenix suburb of Mesa is hardly known as a hotbed of diverse cuisines, but Beaver Choice hopes to buck that trend with its Scandinavian, Germanic, Polish, and Canadian specialties. Lunch service features the always popular poutine, a couple different schnitzel sandwiches, and delicious pierogi though the dinner menu is where the restaurant really shines. Elk stew has been a standout dinner-menu selection in the past, a dish in which meat is braised in heavy cream and wine then served with juniper and lingonberries, mushrooms, shallots, goat cheese, and sage. Gravy-smothered pork-loin dish skomakarlåda, or "shoemaker's box," has been another favorite among satisfied patrons over the years. If you're looking for a change of culinary pace, head to East Valley for a Beaver Choice feast.
