Shakira is a pop rock singer/songwriter from Colombia. At the beginning of her career, she exclusively sang her songs in Spanish. When she began recording in English in 2001, her international success skyrocketed. "Whenever, Wherever" was her first global hit single. Heavily influenced by traditional Colombian music, Shakira changed her sound when she began collaborating with producers Wyclef Jean and Pharell Williams. But she's still holding onto her roots, and she still frequently releases albums in Spanish.
