You may want to take some quiet time after such a busy morning. At the other end of the South Beach, there are two parks. Just hop on the SoBe Local, South Beach's low-cost, highly efficient shuttle service. These air-conditioned shuttles are better than ordinary buses and take you throughout South Beach seven days a week.

Off 17th Street and Washington Avenue, the park in front of the Frank Gehry-designed New World Center serves as an urban oasis. Its official name is Miami Beach Soundscape, which is appropriate. Somehow, it almost seems that outside noise becomes muted when you're within this green space. Filled with palms, bougainvillea vines and royal poinciana trees, and landscaped with Bermuda grass, this serene park is also used for special music and cultural events.

Nearby, on 19th Street and Meridian Avenue, you'll find the Holocaust Memorial. This impressive space was created in memory of the 6 million Jewish victims who died in the Holocaust. At the centre, the bronze Sculpture of Love and Anguish by Kenneth Triester towers over the reflection pool, depicting Holocaust victims climbing a reaching hand.
