Each February, the Hashknife Pony Express posse arrives in Scottsdale. This group of riders in authentic cowboy gear recreates the historic 322-km Holbrook-to-Scottsdale mail route, delivering bags of first-class letters.

Following that, in March, Scottsdale celebrates its Wild West heritage on the second Saturday in February with Parada del Sol, a horse-drawn parade and street party in Old Town Scottsdale. Started in 1953, this free family event includes games and pony rides for the kids, plus crowd-pleasers like Old West gunfight shows and trick-roping performances.
