Established in 1992 by Dr. Ricardo E. Alegría, Museo de las Américas is a landmark in the heart of Old San Juan. Popular among locals and tourists to the city, it chronicles the local heritage and culture, as well as external influences over the centuries. Take a guided tour of the place that shelters four exhibition spaces. Admire folk art at Artes Populares in depictions of religion, lifestyle and pottery of the Americas and the Caribbean. La Herencia African highlights the history and topography of Africa and its impact. Another attraction is the sculptures of aboriginals by Felipe Lettersten, a Swedish-Peruvian artist. End with the Conquista y Colonización that traces the trajectory of the national growth. This museum also offers workshops for visitors of all ages.
