Museums & Galleries

Located on the University of Saskatchewan campus, the history of this museum goes back to 1974 when it was a small collection curated by university professors Michael Swan and Nicholas Gyenes. As the collection grew, the displays required a new abode, so it moved into the Peter MacKinnon Building and opened its doors as the Museum of Antiquities in 1981. Initially the focus of the exhibits was geared toward reflecting the ancient Western culture, with a major focus on Greek and Roman antiquities, but it later expanded to incorporate Middle Eastern and Egyptian works. The small but interesting museum features a variety of sculptures, most of which are replicas.
