Opened in 2002 as Beauséjour Stadium, it was rechristened as Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium or Darren Sammy Cricket Stadium after West Indies won the 2016 ICC World Twenty20 under Darren Sammy's captaincy. It also holds the distinction of hosting the Caribbean's first day and night game. This oval shaped stadium is considered to be among the best cricketing grounds in the region and hosts regional as well as international cricket matches. It gained international recognition when it was one of the hosts of the 2007 Cricket World Cup and 2010 ICC World Twenty20. It is the base of the Windward Islands and St Lucia Zouks.
