Practical Information

The first church on this site was erected towards the end of the 19th Century when Thunder Bay became a township. St. Patrick's Cathedral second building was built in 1964. It is not only the parish church but also the Diocese of Thunder Bay's principal church. This Catholic house of worship has a modern facade and is dedicated to St Patrick and Our Lady of Lourdes. The inside of the church is adorned with religious artworks such as the ornate tabernacle, intricate patronal shrines, bronzed reliefs of the Passion of Christ and the beautiful stained glass windows. The cathedral also features the prayer shrine, meditation garden and other sacred spaces.
