Along the southern coast and at the easternmost part of Sapodilla Bay Peninsula, you can climb a rocky hill to see the famous Sapodilla rock carvings. Archeologists date them back to only 1844, and it has been suggested that perhaps shipwrecked sailors carved their names here in Roman letters. To reach the site, take a rocky trail that starts about 200 yards from the Mariner Hotel. Do bring your camera because the view of the sweeping Caribbean below is wonderful.
