I will just start by saying that Pineapple Beach Club & Verandah are beautiful properties. The beach on Pineapple is absolutely gorgeous but the way that my friends and I were treated at this resort was enough to make me never want to return to Antigua again. I will just start by saying if you like to dress sexy or even just wear minimal clothing in 90 degree weather you will be shamed on this resort. I was walking by the beach mall on Pineapple Beach and was told by one of the staff that I need to "cover up." When I decided to ignore him he loudly said "excuse me ms." I was humiliated and disgusted. I suppose my bikini did not fit the appropriate standard of beachwear for Pineapple Beach. Another evening on this trip a hostess at one of the restaurants on Verandah told my friend that she would not be allowed into the restaurant with a crop top. She then went to go get the manager to confirm whether or not she could come in. Another incident happened with a male friend who was told "young man you need a shirt on" meanwhile he was at the pool bar. It was disgraceful to think we were told how to dress on vacation in such hot weather. And no matter what the weather was we are adults and should not be told what to wear on a resort that we paid for. The straw that broke the camel's back was that we accidental left some cash out ($85) and it was stolen by the person who cleaned our room that day. We filed an incident report with security who told us that he would start an investigation. Just know that NOTHING came out of that investigation by the time we checked out. The manager said call security and security said the investigation was not done. Case and point we were out of $85 and our dignity after being shamed. Important note most of this happened on the Verandah side. We didn't seem to have the same stares and issues on Pineapple besides the beach incident. I would say either stay at Pineapple or just find a different resort period! The GM at Pineapple was very accommodating with the birthday plans that my boyfriend made for me to the point that we gave her a card and money asa gift! This was a hit and miss experience. I would never stay here again.

What a great place, friendly helpful staff. The first person I would like to mention is Myriam Brown. We were initially given a very nice room around the corner from the main pool area. Myriam was making her rounds on a golf cart and noticed my husband needed to take a break before continuing on to the pool,(he has mobility issues). She asked us if she could help us by moving the room closer to the main area of the resort for better access. In a couple of hours we were moved to another room that was even better than the original room. Myriam was so kind. The other person I would like to mention is Loriel the fitness instructor. She gave us plenty of laughs while going through the exercise routines. (DON"T LET HER COUNT UGH :P). And finally all the chef's, I have celiac disease which always concerns me when I travel. Every night the chef on duty would come out and point out the gluten free items on the buffet. The pastry chef would also come out and let me know the items that would be okay to eat for dessert. You have a great caring staff. Thanks for a wonderful experience Janet Burke

Having stayed at the Verandah six times, the hotel experience gets better every trip. From arriving at the resort you feel safe, relaxed and the food is the best I have experienced within an all inclusive environment. The staff go out their way to make your stay enjoyable and memorable, this applies from the ground staff to management. The accommodation is typical Caribbean, (not OTT) but spotlessly kept clean, the grounds are immaculate and there is something for all ages around the resort, from water sports to purely relaxing around the pool or beach. The food in all the four restaurants / beach bar is of excellent quality, with plenty of choice. If you are looking for a stress free relaxing holiday at excellent value The Verandah ticks all the boxes.

We absolutely loved our week here and each day brought something new. From the moment we arrived we felt like we fitted right into place. Our room had already been allocated so despite the fact that we arrived at about 09:00 both us and the luggage were in our room within a few minutes. There was a spacious bathroom with whirlpool bath and over bath shower, wc, twin basins, hairdryer and plenty of towels. This complimented with decent lighting and mirrors. Our room was equally spacious, set out into 5 distinctive areas for sleeping, food prep, eating, sitting about and sitting about al fresco. The balcony was huge, quite private and in amongst the tree tops so there were plenty of colourful birds, some reptiles and a few amphibians which fed on the numerous canopy flowers. I believe that everybody had some kind of sea view and ours was perfect for watching the diving pelicans halfway between the Main and Rasta beaches (Room 223). Everywhere was clean and stayed very clean while we were there. Breakfast was pretty much standard issue but there were different sausages every day which was nice and the bacon wasn't charred. Nice omelettes too. Might be worth mentioning the array of fruit, juice, cereals and cake looking things in case anyone might be interested. Lunch menu at the Beach restaurant was pleasant and varied and one could also use the Main for an even wider range of dishes. There was also a food place at the Rasta beach where the ham cheese and onion paninis were superb. Didn't have a burger. Evening meals were always nice wherever we ate. The level of excellent service was something many have tried but few do well consistently. The front line staff at The Verandah are cool under pressure, always deliver, deliver it well and look at ease doing what they do. This cascades down among the diners making mealtimes an exceptionally chilled out experience. Evening entertainment was a little bit same old but the open mic night was hilarious and the fire guy was awesome. There were few children while we were there at the end of September beginning of October but there were plenty of facilities and staff to keep the most active young mind occupied. For us the adult pool/bar area was perfect and had us right in the zone every time we were there. Actually, even thinking about it now, I still can't decide whether there or the Rasta beach was our favourite. Whichever you decide on there's a golf buggy just around the corner so it doesn't matter. If there is nothing else to like about The Verandah it's the bottled water situation. In the 7 days we were there we used just 2 plastic bottles. We had them new and filled but just refilled them from the tap and popped them in the fridge at bed time. The tap water is filtered so it really is good to drink. If you take the rear exit out the resort where the building work is going on near the main beach, you are a 10 minute stroll from Devil's Bridge. Please wear trainers or some kind of enclosed and fastened foot ware if you are going there and be extremely cautious if you think that you can cross the bridge. If you get it wrong it will be the last time that you do. That said if you don't appreciate the power of an Atlantic wave I urge you to go there, it's breathtaking, absolutely breathtaking.
