Great beachfront location for all of the rooms. Small for a family of 4 especially the bathroom. Cannot recommend staying here for the next few weeks until construction of the new bar is complete. They are trying to play loud banging music to cover the sound of concrete saws and jack hammers. That has been going on for the last 3 days from ~10 am unti 5 pm.

My wife and I just returned from a weeklong trip to the Divi Tamarijn. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves although we did have a few minor issues, mostly upon arrival. First, our room like all others at the Tam is beachfront. Most of the rooms, however, are in sections where access to the water is blocked by fairly large rocks that make water access difficult at best. Fortunately, our room was in the first building on the south side of the pool where we could step off our first floor patio, walk maybe 15 feet and step down onto beach sand and walk right into crystal clear Caribbean water, a definite bonus. We sampled various restaurants on-site and at the Divi All Inclusive, about a 5 minute walk or shuttle. Restaurants require reservations, which can be made up to two days ahead of time. We ate at the buffet on our first night, then tried Ginger, Paparazzi, Pure Lime and Red Parrot, then the buffet and finished off the week with Paparazzi once again. All were good, with Paparazzi clearly being our favorite. None of the servings they give you are overly large and, while we ate well, we never felt like we were packing it in. The Tam pool seems to be busiest in the morning through early afternoon, after which it becomes easier to find a lounge chair in the shade. While we were sun worshippers when we were younger, we are far more aware of its long term dangers now. Frankly, even in the shade, one gets a good tan simply from reflection. Also, it’s simply too hot to sit comfortably in the sun for very long. It’s around 85 degrees every day and the sun makes it feel like the mid to upper 90s with moderate humidity. There is generally a DJ around the Tam pool in the afternoon and the music is enjoyable, ranging from pop to country. Unless you’re right by the speakers, it’s not overpoweringly loud. The Tam pool has a bar and food very close to it, and it’s there that we discovered our favorite drink for the week – the Caribbean Temptation. If you love mango and coconut, this one’s for you. There is little to no nightlife so if that’s your thing, this resort may not be for you . Now the minor issues. First, we had booked and confirmed a room with a king bed. We were assigned a room with two queens and, upon questioning, we were told that the first available king room would not be for several days. We settled for the assigned queen room but will be raising the issue with Customer Service now that we’re home. When we got settled in, we found that one of the two sinks had a slow drain and our refrigerator didn’t work very well. Both problems were alleviated while we ate a late lunch so kudos to the staff for getting this fixed quickly. Second, the gift shop requires cash or a room charge but you can’t charge to your room unless purchasing more than $15 US worth of goods. This one’s a petty annoyance with no explanation given other than “that’s the rules”. Finally, on our last morning, we were awakened very early by the sound of construction going on at the Tam pool nearby. They were starting to do some renovations to the small bar closest to us but started well before 7:00 AM. That simply shouldn’t happen. A few tips: 1. Bring lots of sunscreen. You’ll need it and the gift shop is a pretty expensive place to buy more if you need it. 2. Don’t overpack. We put on bathing suits when we got up and they were on all day until we dressed for dinner. Nice shorts can be worn regardless of restaurant, although we dressed a bit more for the Red Parrot since they describe it as “fine dining”. 3. Drink lots of water. It’s hot and you’ll need it. 4. If you’re on Facebook, join the Divi AI and Tamarijn FB group. I joined several months before our trip and found it a good resource for information and tips. All in all, you’ll have a fun vacation unless you want to nitpick and critique every little thing. Relax and go with the flow and you’ll be just fine.

There is no substitute for immediate beach access. The Tamarjin has all that, steps from your sliding glass door. The beaches are well maintained and the staff is top notch. The E-bike and snorkel tour was one of the favorite things we did while there. The two staff members who guided the tour were friendly and energetic. One even took my camera and swam to the bottom to capture turtle pictures. Food was excellent and plentiful. The beaches were not crowded and we didn’t have a difficult time finding a palapa to relax under. The Bunker bar was convenient and had great views. Plus, full access to the Divi.

After staying in a high rise hotel on Palm Beach, we wanted the experience of a low rise on Eagle Beach. Our travel agent recommended the Tamirjin because every room is ocean front ( which is important to us). We requested a first floor room in building 20-25 as we were aware of the beach erosion and rocks. Upon arrival, we were assigned a second floor room not in the requested room block. It took some time but we were moved to 2100 building on the second floor. The front desk staff is very courteous and understood our disappointment. We were not aware that building requests are not guaranteed. The hotel is lovely. The rooms are cleaned daily and the staff is always mopping the floors and wiping down surfaces. Everyone is friendly and helpful. Many of the employees are long-term with 30+ years of service with the Company. The property shares amenities and restaurants with the Divi which is about a 10-15 min walk depending on where your room is. There is also golf cart shuttle that goes back-and-forth all day. Although it is the same company, the coffee was definitely better at the Divi! There is also a coffee bar at the Divi but not at the Tamirijn. Breakfast and lunch are buffet with plenty of choices. You need to make reservations for dinner, and they only book 2 days in advance. The food is mediocre to good depending on where you eat. Our best meal was at the Red Parrot on the Divi property. We went off property for a few dinners because Aruba has a lot of excellent restaurants. There are a few other hotels, restaurants, shops and a casino all within walking distance. Our section of the beach was very nice but that is not the case in other areas. There was always an available Palapa. There is no beach service ( no towel or drink service) but the famous Bunker bar is a 5 min walk. It was a relaxing vacation. If you are looking for a low key resort, this is it.

We had a perfect vacation at the Tamarijn! We chose this resort due to the oceanfront views and were not disappointed. We had a 2nd floor room in the 2300 building and loved our view and the private beach. We spent each morning under the umbrellas on the beach and spent several afternoons at one of the pools. Everyone is given 32oz. water bottles and there are many water and ice stations around the resort, so we were able to keep cool and well hydrated in the sun. The beach in front of many of the building is pretty rocky. However, the buildings south of the Bunker Bar (I think the 1800 building and higher) had a nice sandy beach. Our 2300 building and those around it were nice and sandy, but I recommend bringing water shoes, as there still are a fair amount of rocks in the water. Our room and the resort as a whole was very clean and well maintained. We had one minor maintenance issue (our fault) and it was immediately addressed and fixed. We ate at a different restaurant every night, including Paparazzi, Ginger, Palm Grill, as well as the Red Parrot and Pure Lime at the Divi resort next door (all Tamarijn guests have access to everything at the Divi as well). We had excellent service and food at every spot, but our favorite dining experience was at the Palm Grill, where you cook your own food right at the table. Other culinary highlights were the macaroons at the Red Parrot, getting fresh squeezed orange juice and smoothies at the buffet, everything at Ginger, and cocktails at the bars. All the staff members were interacted with were very helpful and accommodating. I especially want to recognize Renata at the buffet, who was always warm and inviting. The shows each night were entertaining, including the pirate acrobatic show, the synchronized swimming show, and the folk dancing. Like many of the other reviewers here, I will recommend the e-bike and snorkel tour. Donnie and Bree were excellent guides and made sure that we all were safe and kneww what we were doing. Our trip started from the Tamarijn and followed a bike path to the famous fofoti trees on Eagle Beach, where we stopped for a photo. We then continued on regular roads north to the Boca Catalina Beach, where we snorkeled and saw many great fish and 6 sea turtles, including one who surfaced right in front of us! We then were given lunch and rode back to the Tamarijn. It was a 12 mile round trip that was very easy with the e-bikes. We took advantage of the spa services, which did not disappointment. There are a few shops on site and we used those to get a few convenience items. Beware that sunscreen in Aruba (not just at the resort) is very expensive, about $20/bottle. We went in to Oranjestad for an afternoon and the prices were the same there. Sunscreen is a must this close to the equator. My only complaint would be the app that is used to make dinner reservations. It typically shows no availability at most of the restaurants. However, if you talk to the concierge, you can get reservations anywhere. Since the restaurants only book up to 2 days in advance, this means that I had to make a daily visit to the concierge each morning. If the app worked better, that wouldn't be necessary. That small gripe aside, we found the Tamarijn to be a perfect vacation spot in paradise. We would happily stay there again.
