    Stayed for the Private Island

If you stay at this hotel you have access to the private island. The private island was a great way to spend a day with the family. I wouldn't suggest staying more than a day or two at this hotel if you are going to Aruba for the beaches, the hotel is located in the marina. We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite, plenty of room for our family of four. The room was clean and seemed "new". The bathroom has a walk in shower, so when you shower the entire room gets wet (the shower drain is by the toilet). Warning, you will spend a lot of time wiping up the floor to prevent slipping...

Not a very good hotel in Aruba

The good first. The service was amazing. At Fresco restaurant the staff was very helpful and friendly, and the breakfast was awesome! the cleaning crew and service crew tried their best to make us feel welcome. Kudos to all of them. At the front desk it was a different story, no sense of urgency whatsoever, they will make sure you wait in line for a long time. Oh, and the flamingos! yes, you will have the chance to feed and take pictures of the 6 flamingos in the private island. Very unique, and the main selling point of the hotel. Now the not-so-good stuff. The hotel does not have a beach - it has 2-3 man-made ponds that are subpar, to say the least. At the Ocean Suites (the family-friendly piece of the hotel), next to the pool, there's a very shallow pond covered about 60-70% with sea weeds, very unpleasant. And the private island is two (2) man-made "beaches" that are just shallow and covered with sea weeds. These are VERY POOR options compared to ANYTHING else in Aruba: Baby beach, Eagle beach, Arashi beach, Palm beach, etc. To make things worse, hotel guests are not allowed to bring food or drinks to the island, meaning it's going to be a VERY EXPENSIVE day at the beach. Service at the island is slow, and whatever drinks you order will be delivered warm or with melted ice. The best thing to do is to walk up to the bar and order your drinks. The cabanas at the private island are $300-$350 per day, if you happen to be lucky enough to get one - this includes a bottle of cheap champagne and 2 bottles of VOOS water and 2 bottles of VOOS sparkling water. You will be better off paying $12 for a taxi to Eagle beach (a 8-10 min ride), where you can bring your food and drinks, and enjoy one of the best beaches in the world - even if you don't have a palapa (those little huts / umbrellas / cabanas that can be rented in the beaches). If you happen to have a beach umbrella with you, you will be in heaven. The hotel wifi didn't work for the first 4-5 days of our stay. It was fixed and we enjoyed fast wifi the last 3 days of our stay. Something is very wrong with the TVs, the signal looked like during the 80s using a mustache antenna - just unwatchable. Overall, we had a blast in Aruba not because of the hotel's facilities and amenities, but because we decided to leave the hotel and explore other options. We will not be staying at this hotel again, and would not recommend it to anyone.

An excellent hotel I would recommend to everybody. I had a nice, quiet and clean room, with a marvellous ocean view. A very good restaurant on a beautiful hotel beach on a private island with flamingos passing among tourists. In my opinion, one of the best hotels on Aruba. What is very important, whole personnel spoke good English. High-quality service. Hotel manager was very helpful. I would like to go back there.

Disappointed with service DO NOT BOOK FOR VACATION!

I checked into the hotel aug 15 at 10am. I was told the room would be ready at 1pm. I am a Marriott gold member. I check back and the room was not ready. They told to come back in 30 minutes. They repeated this procedure til 4:10 pm. They could have easily said the room will be ready at 4pm. I would have returned at 4pm. I had work to do in town. The next day the room was not cleaned til 7pm in the evening. I saw the room attendant at 1pm. Asked her to clean my room by 3pm. She said no problem sir i showed her my room key that shows my gold status. Room was not cleaned until i called and complained twice about to staff at front desk. The same evening i come to the room at 11pm. I went to bed. The ac was not working properly at all. It was very stuffy and hot in room. I woke up at 4am. I called the airline changed my ticket and checked out hotel. I flew back to miami at 9:45am. On aug 17. I was suppose to stay until aug 18. I was looking forward to having a nice weekend in aruba after a work week. I emailed staff twice about all issues. They apologized and that was it. Nothing was offered to me at all or anything specia as of yet. Waiting for email from them. I plan on emailing Marriott corporate as well to tell them about my lousy experience. I stayed at this hotel for 15 years. It has changed ownership in the past 2 years. The past 2 times i stayed i had issues. Such a shame, i really like the location for work. I don’t recommend this hotel for vacation. So many other nice options in aruba for vacation. If your going for business 1 or 2 nights u gonna deal w the bs fine. Bon Bini from Aruba. One happy island but not at the Renaissance for my experience this past week. Such a shame.
