Basic shame
deanoandsue (Burford, United Kingdom) on Mar 16, 2024
We arrived late because of a delayed flight, there was nowhere to eat, we were not even offered a sandwich, because all chefs had gone home!!!!!!. Room very basic, two single uncomfortable beds, threadbare sheets and hardish pillows, aircon very poor the unit and fan does nothing and apparently you have to leave it on 20 degrees!!!!!! Otherwise it leaks water. Reception staff very friendly. Restaurant is a big thing for me, there isn't any dress code at all which I think there should be, cover ups for swimwear and t shirts for men at lunch and dinner, you wouldn't be able to do it in the uk. Food pretty basic, service shockingly slow. The hotel is on a busy main road, buses into Oistins and surroundings are plenty so nothing to worry about there. The sea on this side of the island is pretty rough and powerful so be careful. Would I come back to this hotel!! Unfortunately not. Barbados is a beautiful place. All in all a pretty basic experience. Oh and the service charge needs to be sorted out, because everything you have from one item on a bill to a full meal has it on, and thats everytime. Tips should be optional and not made into a service charge. Service charge should be for visitors not hotel guests.
Great Stay

Excellent hotel, me and a few ex colleagues stayed here back a few months ago on our annual gals trip. The service was great, room clean and friendly staff. The entertainment was also amazing. I would highly recommend a visits here as the service is second to none. 5 stars from a group of oldies.
Barbados hotel - I wish you’d been more friendly.

We stayed here after our cruise for one week. Check in was a bit off putting as the receptionist was not very warm or friendly but she was efficient. Our room was on the 3rd floor and beautiful with a gorgeous view of the sea. It was absolutely stunning! It’s was spacious and airy. Bed was super comfy and huge! Pillows were the best I’ve laid me head on - wish I could buy the same in the uk. Air con was perfect and there was also a ceiling fan. Kitchen area has a fridge, kettle etc. Shower was great but bathroom did get very hot but we didn’t mind to be honest. USB points in the lamp bases were an unexpected bonus. Lots of storage and hanging space with several hangers. Safe was free. The bar area was nice with a lovely aspect overlooking the ocean but it lacked atmosphere. It’s easier for them if you charge your food & drinks your room. We didn’t want to as didn’t want to run up a big bill but in the end we just did. The pool areas are lovely, there are two & plenty of sun beds everywhere and the beach literally on your door step on both sides. Stunning views & beach. Glorious. There are two reasons why I would probably not consider this hotel again - the first is there are quite a few staff that are very unfriendly to the point of being hostile. They outnumbered the friendly ones unfortunately. It made us not want to spend time there which was probably a bit of a catch 22 as I think there were quite a few returning customers who were treated with smiles and niceties. An older member of staff appeared to take a particular dislike to me after I failed to read her mind and got in her way whilst waiting at the bar. It made me feel a bit sad as I am such a friendly fun loving person. The second reason is the location. There’s only a Chinese & one other restaurant across the road and you can’t just turn up either we has to book. We ate at the Chinese & the Central and had great food and service at both. You can walk into Oistins but it’s quite a long way and the pavements are not great and the traffic whips past you at a 100 mph and it’s not well lit at night time. We spent a lot of time at Dover beach, Rockley & St Lawrence Gap. Bear in mind meals & drinks are £££. We got the reggae reggae vans at least twice a day to the other beaches & areas & to Oistins several times - highly recommend them for the fun/wow factor - they are not for the faint hearted mind but they get you where you want to go for $3.50 fixed price each way. Highly recommend going to Oistins for the fish festival every Friday evening it was amazing with a fabulous atmosphere. We had an absolutely amazing time and would 1000000% go back to Barbados but I’m not sure about returning to this hotel for the reasons stated.

Unimpressed, very disappointed

Very disappointed with location.First visit to Barbados and expected hotel to have access to beaches both sides as advertised and as per the photographs. This wasn't the case. Tide always high so sunbeds can't be taken to the beach. If you want to sit on sunbeds with sunshade on the beach, you have to travel to another area. If I had known this beforehand, I wouldn't have booked this hotel. Food in restaurant is average but overpriced. Nowhere else to eat in the direct vicinity of the hotel other than a Chinese restaurant over the road. Unimpressed with hotel staff in general. Will not return.
