Great hotel in the perfect location
journeymaker20 (England, United Kingdom) on Mar 22, 2024
The hotel provides an excellent location for easy access to Hamilton. A free boat shuttle service is provided to and from Hamilton throughout the day. There is spa, small gym, swimming pool and hot pool within the hotel. There is a well stocked bar, pool bar and restaurant, all with panoramic views across the water to Hamilton. Rooms are very comfortable and spacious. Most staff are friendly and helpful, especially reception and housekeepers. There is free shuttle to the golf course and beach.
Useful for a group

This hotel fit our needs in terms of a large group wanting to stay together in a central location with access to a kitchen. If that were not the case, I’m not sure I would recommend it. But we liked staying together, and you get what you pay for. THE GOOD: *Two bedroom suites fit up to 8 people, and the extra powder room was helpful to have on top of the two nice full bathrooms. It’s very helpful to have a full kitchen, especially as food on the island is expensive or requires transport. You can even have groceries delivered for a fee. KCup coffee/tea in kitchen. *Views & “backyard” patio are nice. *Daily housekeeping service that was thorough. No bugs. *Free on-site ferry service & shuttle to golf resort/Coco are a nice amenity. You can apparently walk to a bus stop as well. *Much of the staff was nice. *Central location if you want to see multiple parts of the island and be near both Hamilton & the southern beaches. *The on-site restaurant looked good with a separate vegetarian menu as well. I only had a drink there, so can’t comment on food. Was a bit pricey. *Decent room prices for Bermuda & the amount of space you get. NOT SO GOOD: *I emailed in advance and reconfirmed a rollaway bed at check-in. Wasn’t there, so I called again and was brought a very old looking bed with ripped mattress. (I almost wish I didn’t see it, but someone with the bedding came separately 15 min later.) You can literally feel the coils when you sleep on it. *air conditioning was very weak in two of the three rooms… and it was Nov. Uncomfortable temp to sleep. *dishwasher didn’t work in the unit per a sign taped to it, and smelled but there was no other rack to put clean dishes on. Housekeeping did wash dishes that were left in sink. *woke up early for a scheduled yoga class at the front desk confirmed it was happening and nobody ever showed up. The front desk didn’t know why, try to contact instructor, nor apologize or seem to care. *did not get any Gym instructions upon check-in and found out on last day you needed a special key for it *the pool didn’t seem heated as they said. The Jacuzzi was warm, but had no jets on or any button to activate. The bar by the pool is closed for the season and there doesn’t seem to be any towel service/info, so you just had to bring the ones in your room. People were painting & doing maintenance around there, but quietly. *Service just isn’t their thing. Upon arriving, I had to hold the heavy door open with one hand and bring multiple suitcases in one at a time with the other, even though someone was nearby. I got a bellhop load a cart later. The bartender saw me sitting there and ignored me until I called out to her. Didn’t seem to have answers to basic questions at the front desk. Said they would call when room was ready and didn’t. My dairy groceries just sat on the counter in lobby despite being told they’d be delivered to room. We had to seek the shuttle driver at scheduled departure times. *Every night there was an incessant and very loud squeaking sound outside that was a bit of a nuisance. I thought maybe it was some sort of an insect or alarm, but later came to learn it could be a particular local frog! Not the hotel’s fault, but just be aware if you need silence to sleep. Maybe a higher floor is better. Overall, Bermuda is a beautiful island full of wonderful people and this hotel served our needs for this particular trip. But just be aware it’s not a fancy luxury hotel and you’ll have to be patient on some things in exchange for having a bigger space/kitchen. I’m not sure how they handle summer crowds.
