    The staff was fantastic, always very kind and accommodating. I can not rave enough about the staff! You receive a temp check every morning at breakfast and everyone is socially distanced in the restaurants. The resort is clean. Whenever there was seaweed the staff worked quickly to clean the entire beach. The food is a bit bland, but overall for all-inclusive, it was ok. Steakhouse and Japanese were the only really decent choices. Steer clear of the Italian. The coffee shop as well as many restaurants are not open due to covid. I recommend getting your coffees in the lobby, they always do a good job. I was a bit frustrated that I upgraded to privileged since everyone received a-la-carte menu meals the entire time. Also, the beach is split, one side privileged, one side non... however, there is no security so technically anyone can sit anywhere... What was the point of upgrading? In general, for the price, Catalonia Maroma is worth it.. I wasn't thrilled but I wasn't unhappy. We stayed for two weeks and it felt like groundhogs day every. single. day.... no new activities and food choices monotonous.

    Wife and I found a good deal for the week. Just arrived and wanted to give our initial review of the resort. We were told that all pools and restaurants were open when we called prior to heading down. We were also told we can arrive onsite and upgrade to privilege level so we decided to do that. We arrived and loved the lobby. Check in process was simple. Because we upgraded to privilege level, they asked we come back in 40 minutes so they could find us a room. We were informed that not all of the restaurants were open and the ones that were are only open on certain nights and times. Actually disappointing to hear that we weren’t told the truth when we called prior to heading down. We have been here for less than 24 hours. The swim up bar is under maintenance (closed) and we have yet to find a hot tub. The beach is in ok condition (much better than the Yucatán Princess beach we stayed at in March 2018). Very little seaweed here. Service has been wonderful on the beach. The attendants have been very attentive and service oriented. Honestly the resort is much more run down than I was expecting. I realize there have been storms this fall so I’m sure that has a lot to do with it. The ceiling outside our very plain room with a great view/balcony is in desperate need of repair. The main bar area near the pool looks like it has taken a beating with the storms. Sure wish the restaurant that is on the top floor of that main bar was open. It would’ve had a great view and atmosphere to look over the beach and water. Overall, I’d give this an average mark of the resorts I’ve been to. I don’t want to leave but I probably won’t come back. The staff are nice, but the facilities are less than what I was hoping for. I’ll send an updated final review once we head back home on November 27th.

    False publicity and overcharged

    When I made my reservation I was given a price of 1615USD for 4 people and 2 bedrooms , tried to pay beforehand but they said i needed to pay at the hotel, once there I payed with my debit card but I was charged 1745 USD, I demanded to know why i was overcharged 130 USD and i was told the charge was made in MXN at the exchange rate they set wich was 22 MXN to USD when the echanche ratre was 20.63MXN to USD. First of all they never specify that, second I payed with a card from an American bank and in USD. This is deceptive and im still arguing with them about this.

    We had a great trip. The property was clean and gorgeous, the room clean and beautiful, and the food and drinks were great. We had great service from all the staff members from front desk to the waiters and waitresses. The only problem that we found was that the water in the hot tub area of the pool was lukewarm at best. Otherwise, fabulous overall.

    We had an amazing time at Catalonia. I would definitely recommend! The value for your money is unbelievable. Great staff and excellent food, beautiful resort, and overall an amazing environment. Great job!
