My husband and I stayed at Catalonia Riviera Maya from March 8 to March 17. We really enjoyed our stay as privileged guests. I’d like to say thank you to all the staff of the resort for outstanding service. Special thanks to Lorenza, who works in the lobby bar and on our last day she was moved to the grill restaurant. She was amazing: attentive, cheerful - first class service. With her around I feel special every evening, as she was always there for me. I wish her best luck at her new position at the Grill restaurant – she really deserved it. Also I’d like to say a big thank you to all entertainment team. They work very hard to make sure everyone is having a good time and enjoying the stay. Alejandra was awesome and I really enjoyed her classes - we had a lot of fun. I enjoyed great shows every evening: dancers was doing wonderful job at a very high professional level. Just one negative moment: I think the reception desk staff needs more training. I didn’t feel welcome every time I had to talk to them for different reasons. Other than that everything was great. Thank you Catalonia for a very good time. Inna and Sasha

Ive been to a lot of places in Mexico on both sides and if you can get this hotel package on a deal go for it. I took my Wife and Daughter (6) to this resort and they had a great time. The resort is two hotels. Yucatan and Riviera Maya.. You can use the entire property except for privileged pool/beach. You don't need that anyway trust me, unless you wanna upgrade your room for space wise. This resort is approx 1.5 hours from airport when you drop people off at other hotels. We met some really awesome people on this trip from every country and everyone was going through the same troubles back home (covid-19). Besides from that grey cloud hanging over the trip everyone (well most) seem to make the best of the trip, and thats not hard when your 6 drinks in lol. Food, okay, ive had better and worse. No one got sick so thats a big plus! Staff- OSCAR OSCAR OSCAR this guy we will truley miss, he was so good to us and my daughter I just can't believe it. Management if you are reading this please give him a paid day off! He is an asset to you and a big part making our trip memorable. Beach- Its smaller than id like, there are sections that you can access not a long stretch. The beach is good for kids to play on as they use wave breaks to stop waves from entering the hotels beach. Water is clear and loads of fish for snorkeling so bring your gear. Will I return, probably not to this resort to be honest but I like trying new places out myself. Cheers

    Excellent staff made our stay!

Staff went out of their way to make sure our experience was awesome. Thank you so much for everything and best wishes to everyone there impacted by what's going on in the world right now. All the restaurants we ate at were fantastic. The other Catalonia had first come first served whereas this one you had to make reservations which had some benefits and some disadvantages. We could plan ahead and look forward to all these amazing different restaurants but it felt less flexible when doing other activities and knew you'd need to be back at a specific time. But hey, that would be Mexican time so not to worry lol. The sports bar has lots of different games such as pool, ping pong, and fuse ball. The resort is so large we didn't even have a chance to see and do everything they offered before leaving.

This place is getting rave reviews why ? So many better places to book and spend your money. They try Ill give them that. The rooms are old and need to be renovated. Im sure they are working on it.. Now they have ANOTHER level besides privileged... And privileged isnt anything special. I think the hotel is being run wrong and should take a look at other resorts. The walking on the beach is lame , not very big, so we ended doing laps around the hotel. The food at the buffett was cold... get the fresh omelet every morning if you want hot food. The specialty restaurants were good.. but book what you want early because all the good times to dine ( 630 -700 book up early I will give props toe Lorenza at Bar Abuelo (sp) she was a dream and very good at her job. We went to the lounge every night before dinner. The shows were good.. check them out give the performers a chance. Armando did a good job helping us find a room . .. Bottom line ready the reviews, they are pretty spot on with the complaints. I know there a groups ( we met them) that come every year... why ? There are alot of other nicer resorts to choose from. You get what you pay for that is for sure.

We were a group of eight traveling from Illinois to Puerto Aventuras for spring break on 3/13/2020 through 3/20/2020. Upon arrival at the resort we were greeted with a rum punch and a smile from the front desk. We asked for rooms in the same building and they obliged. My Wife and I decided to splurge and do the upgrade to Privilege Club. I can't really say it was worth it for us. The only real plus for us was a room on the first floor. The resort is beautiful. They are constantly cleaning and making improvements as the week went by. The buffet food while very good was not changed up often enough. You would get the same dishes everyday. A little more variety would have been nice. The booze selection was just okay. We paid for the upgrade to privilege and had no additional choices available to us. The really "good" booze was for the "Exclusive Traveler Club" and that was more than I was willing to pay for. The specialty restaurants were good. Our group enjoyed the Japanese Ayami restaurant the most. They put on an awesome show and the food was fantastic. We did manage to check out the theatre for one of the evening shows and was surprised at the amount of work/talent they put into the show. The snorkeling at the beach is very good. You will see plenty of fish looking for a hand out and some other surprises as well. My daughter found a baby stingray in the sand while were wading in the water.
