This was our second time at Hotel Playa Coco. Our first visit was 2 years ago shortly after their devastating hurricane. I enjoyed my stay then and loved my stay this time. The resort has worked so hard to recover and what a difference I see. The new snack bar and pizza place was a hit with my husband and I. Great spot for that first coffee in the morning.....quiet and a beautiful view. Again, Geoge at the Ice bar was friendly and welcoming....awesome chocolate martinis George!! Mike at the Sports Bar, it was a pleasure meeting you, you were very accommodating and the beer was always cold. Entertainment in the evening was fun. As returning customers we were treated to a special evening at the Cigar Bar, a gift and a nice meal at the Italian restaurant. It was nice to be recognized as a returning patron. We were in building 4 and it was perfect. The room was spacious, clean and had a million dollar view. Our building was close to the beach and snack bar. In the late afternoon we usually spent a relaxing hour at the quiet pool...a nice quiet time before supper. The a la cartes were nice, the Japanese one was great last time and great this time The buffet was typical buffet food, different choices, something for everyone. The beach was perfect again, clean, lots of chairs, bar, entertainment and games. We lucked in with the weather. Perfect! The staff were friendly and accommodating....which I find amazing considering the complainers they have to deal with on a daily basis! While we were there, the resort had their 16th anniversary. A special afternoon was planned for all their staff and families, drinks, buffet, music, videos, games for their kids. This was all held under and around their entertainment tent. It was nice to see the resort recognize their wonderful staff. I will definitely be going back to Playa Coco. I am so glad we were able to get there before all the Covid 19 stuff hit. Stay safe my friends and see you again!

Bff and I visited our Hotel Playa paradise for the 2nd time. ALL staff were incredible. Front desk, servers, cleaning staff, etc. Bed was very comfortable. Building 5. We had a beautiful view of ocean from our 2nd floor balcony. Beach was clean, shallow water. We even had a wild horse visit outside of our building. Priceless. Japanese restaurant was very good! As a repeat guest, we were offered a special evening - how to properly prepare and smoke a cigar, plus a 5-star dinner at the Italian restaurant. We felt like royalty. Thank you Hotel Playa. Rooms are spacious and immaculately clean. Playa is the perfect size to meet new people and it's a quick walk to all resort ammenities. The entertainment was great as usual. 3-piece band (guitar, drums, violin and vocals). We also bought a CD from the Los Bucaneros (sp) to bring that Latin vibe home with us. Special thanks to Georges, Yelegney and Lieber (sp?). We miss you all! See you again soon. Linda & Christine

We went with a large group of friends. My first room was on Building 8, NO hot water for shower, telephone was not working & washroom was leaking. I was still ok with it, but after two days the toilet was not working, NO water. I requested to change room, but front desk gave me such hard time, it took almost a day before they gave me a new room. Then I moved to Building 6, boy... what a nightmare...bed bugs, bed bugs, bed bugs...my husband any I got so many bits. We were going to ask to move again but lot of my friends got bed bugs too, so I figure it won't make any different to move. This is the only trip that I kept count down when to go home. Food is below standard, and menu the same every day.

We stayed for a week at the Hotel Playa Coco from February 13 to 20. Nice flight down with Air Transat. Smooth shuttle from airport to hotel. Greeted quickly and professionally by Rosanne at the front desk. I had emailed the week before requesting a renovated room on the third floor and Rosanne gave us a very nice room in building 6. The bellboys brought our luggage within minutes. The room was clean and large with a tv, safe and coffee maker and a fridge all in perfect working order. The bed was very comfortable but we we glad we brought our own fluffy pillows, the ones at the hotel are flat and hard. The bathroom was newly renovated with new fixtures and tile. Soap and shampoo was provided. While the water wasn’t hot it was alway warm and not an issue. We received a new water bottle every other day and when we needed more we went to the bar outside the room and had the bottle refilled. The grounds of the hotel are clean and well maintained. Some steps in the sidewalks to watch out for especially at night. There are 2 pools. The main pool was very nice and clean. Lots of music and entertainment happening. The second pool known as the quiet pool is the best kept secret down there. It is beautiful and deep with lots of chairs and lounge beds and it’s own bar staffed by the ever friendly Tammy who makes the best cappuccino’s on the resort. Of course we spent most of time on the beautiful beach. Lots of comfortable lounge chairs on the beach. Often we were greeted each morning by the young man who cared for the chairs - he would help us set up the chairs as we wanted and clean off the sand. That was a nice way to start the day. The beach is clean and the water shallow so nice to walk out and cool off in. Beach bar right there for drinks and a breach grill would open for lunch and serve up pulled pork sliders and fries - so tasty! The entertainment team on the beach would start around 10:30 in the morning and go to about 1. They were fun but sometimes they turned the music a little loud. No peddlers on the beach and we always felt safe with our stuff. As for the food, it was ok. The breakfast buffet was good. Great omelettes custom made. Sausages, juice, yogurts, breads and fruits. For lunches we really liked the beach bbq but there is another snack shack that servers hamburger and fish and chips but it was not very good at all. There is also a pizza place that isn’t too bad. The dinner buffet had a good selection of rice and pasta dishes, and meat and pasta station. You could always find something but the food is kind of bland and repetitive. But the deserts are great. Lots of cakes and cookies and sweets! So good! We went to the Japanese a la carte restaurant. It was ok. They cook at a communal table and do a little performance. Rice, chicken, beef and shrimp. It was ok we had a laugh and meet some nice Russian people. We also tried the Italian a la carte restaurant. It was very nicely decorated but the food was very bland- the lasagna was cold, chicken tough but the deserts were good. Usually after dinner we would head to the open air lobby and have a coffee and use the wifi (1 cuc per hour). Smoke a nice Cuban cigar and enjoy the evening. We had excellent service from our friend Lib in the lobby bar always smiling and happy. Around 9 pm each earning the entertainment would start. The hotel has one of the nicest stage areas I have seen in Cuba covered by a huge new canvas circus tent with new lighting and sound. Unfortunately, they had a tendency to crank the sound and the music and the mc shouting into the mike was just too much to bear so we left several nights after just 10 minutes of this. The tv had a number of English channels including CTV, TVA and CNN which was nice. All in all, we enjoyed our stay at Hotel Playa Coco. We had a nice room, the beach and pools were great, the food ok and the entertainment not that good. Probably would spend a bit more next time and look for a better place. But good value for the price.
