    We have just returned from this resort on August 10th. We enjoyed one week with excellent food,music, service, beautiful beaches. Also our big Thank You to all our stuff friends Lobby bar: Manuel Marcial Room service: Lysbania Res.Los Navegantes:Alien Trujillo Perez Los Caribes:Lauren Klara Gonsalez Rachon Morinos:Sandy Valdes Bello Pizza BBQ - Pedro, Piti Melia Buenavista see you pretty soon!!!!!!!

    NICE HOTEL BUT MELIA IS NOT COMPLIANT AND FRAUDS WITH EXCHANGE RATES

    I am not making a big issue of not having had warm water in our "The level" suite, or the bad food, or the sunset bar closed that should be open, or no in room coffee next to the coffee machine, or no jam for in room breakfast service ("sorry we don't have", but available in the breakfast area), as conditons in Cuba are not that easy.? But the unacceptable issue is the following : We made our reservation per phone ?in Europe and the nice lady informed us about the total price in Euro. She said we would receive the confirmation from Melia in USD but that that would not change anything. Having travelled to Cuba before we know very well that you pay over there either in local CUC or in Euro or in Canadian dollar but NEVER IN USD to avoid the 10 % extra exchange costs and a 1 Dollar =1 CUC echange.rate. That is why we went to Cuba with cash in Euro that we exchanged in CUC.. (1 Euro has a value of about 1,10 CUC).. As a consequence we wanted to pay the Hotel cash in CUC, to a normal exchange rate EURO - CUC. The hotel forced us to apply the exchange rate 1 CUC = 1 US Dollar ( BUT THERE WHERE NO REAL DOLLARS, THERE WERE ONLY MENTIONNED ON THE RESERVATION CONFIRMATION !) . On the total cost of our stay for only 3 nights that turned out to be a 20% price increase which is almost 300,- Euros ! . For MELIA this represents a 20% higher profit FAKELY JUSTIFIED BY A NON EXISTING CURRENCY EXCHANGE. Proceding like this is certainly a great invention from Melia top financial management, but to my opinion it is thievery, morally rejectable and non compliant.

    Perfect place for relaxing vacation

    We have just returned from this hotel on August 7th and wanted to share our experience while it is still fresh. Overall we enjoyed our vacation as we are positive people and always try to appreciate what we have at the moment. The definite cons of this resort are: the beaches, all three different with white sand, clear water, many shadow options. Nice staff in the bar, pool bar, and dinner restaurants . The servers at Navigantes restaurant are awesome, especially Alien, who always offered us some wine pairings for the food we were ordering that night. In a carte restaurant there is a great choice of wine, and you can use coupons provided at the reception to pay for most of them. Great entertainment in the evening. Every night was special. We are great lovers of Cuban music, and all bands were extremely professional. The guys at the night bar are superb, offered us various drinks, every day something different with personal touch. Now about some cons: they do not do any fumigation / at least we didn’t see that like in other resorts/, and every day we were attacked by thousands of mosquitos. We couldn’t go to the beach before 9 in the morning, and at night had to spray ourselves from head to toes. The rooms. Those need renovations! They are huge with comfortable beds, but definitely require improvements The food. The breakfast was ok, we love tropical fruit, and they offered some many options for them, and also cold cuts, vegetables, and excellent coffee. Lunch - it could be ok, but a la carte dishes were not tasty at all. We tried couple of times, and stopped ordering them, choosing some options of buffet or taking pizza at the pool bar / that was really great/. The staff. Overall we saw many people willing to make our stay excellent, and it was a petty that some of them ruined the whole impression of it. For example, spa service. We booked it two days ahead, and when came to the spa, we were told we couldn’t get the service as one of the ladies was late and another busy with another client. They didn’t even try to solve that situation by offering us some compliment to smooth the inconvenience. The butler service. We had three butlers, and really saw only Orestes always ready to help us with all our needs. All others looked ladies looked annoyed by our requests, as if asking to book a restaurant was over their responsibilities. Finally our transfer to airport. We were supposed to leave early in the morning, and the butler told us that we will be provided with breakfast box in our room before our leave, we did get nothing, and when I asked at the reception, they were not aware of this, so we have to leave hungry and had to rush for some sandwich at the airport five hours after. We hope our notes would help the Management to improve some things, as overall the place is beautiful and have a big potential.

    6th time a Charm!

    Back for our 6th visit. Notably was the pleasant General Manager, Diego. His daily presence and charm is delightful. He is doing great things! The food was fantastic. We had beef, pork, chicken and copious amounts of fish and pasta during our stay. Vegetables were present but scarce. But it was off season so you made due with what was vailable. Meals were prepared fast and hot and always with a smile. Drinks were plentiful and strong :) The beach is A1 as you will read in other reviews. Room was attended promptly to by Barbara G. No complaints. Excellent. There are alot off new faces which are a huge addition to the team. Of course the old faces are why we return :) We missed some old faces too :( They could not do enough for us! Front desk - Agustine and Ivette. Lobby Bar - Julio, Jorge Outon, Frangel, Yamisela, Orlando, Luis Rene, Yoan. Restaurants - Yanisilei, Eli, Dorgys, Lena, Maria, Anais, Sandy, Leidy Laura. Pool bar - Lester, Loren, Yeri, Orestes Beach bar - Andres , Roger, Diuberty, Miakel Butlers - Joel, Lily, Armando, Dayami Bellhop - Diego, Michael(?) Odlanier Chefs - Sarah, Ali Animation - Phillipe, Ale, Navi Pizza BBQ - Pedro, Piti All fantastic, cordial, professional and could not do enough for you! It was hot hot hot and slow, resort only 35% capacity. It was perfect RnR week. See you again soon! Nikki & Danny

    Clean spacious rooms, buffet and restaurants had very good food and a lot to choose from!!! Clean resort and beautiful beach. Not to mention the beautiful Cuban hospitality, always checking and asking if there is anything they can do for you !!?? Great place. Can’t wait to get back !!
