    First trip to Curacao

    Spent a week in Curacao. We stayed at the Acoya. The weather was great, did an island tour, spent a day at Mambo beach and the rest by the pool. Upon our arrival in the late afternoon, we checked in and was told our room was not ready. We had to wait for about an hour. Our room was fine. If we required anything we asked and received what we required very promptly. We took advantage of the free shuttles to the beach, downtown and to the Supermarket. We found the staff to be very friendly. Martin, the Food and Beverage Manager and David I believe the Property Manager introduced themselves to us and were very helpful and responsive to our questions and any requests. We understand the Acoya is going through some changes and we could see those changes with staff for the week we were there. The food I would say was average. We were not all-inclusive. There was not a lot of variety, but what we did have was tasty. We are talking about going back next year.

    Better utensils in the kitchen. There was no toilet paper neither washgels in one of the rooms. Asked to fix the phone but nobody came. Workers are very friendly. Private pool wasn't clean. Nice neighborhood.

    All inclusive is definitely not worth it, food quality is poor, pool area, bar and restaurant do not offer what you expect for a week long stay. Rooms are ok, but need maintenance. Far from everything, car is required to go anywhere. Staff went out of their way to be helpful and is what makes the place bearable.

    Just returned from a family holiday in Curaçao. Enjoyed the sights, weather, and the tours. The most difficult part of our holiday was our stay at The Acoya Resort. There were many issues with the stay that were challenging to deal with. Upon arrival in the late afternoon, our rooms were not ready, and once ready, the configuration was only corrected on one of the two units during our stay. The staff had asked us twice if the other room had been reconfigured, but it was never done. The condition of one of the units was very disappointing with large stains on the couch and a used soap bar still residing in the shower that was not noticed by the cleaning staff. No face cloths for the first half of the week, and no tissue(Kleenex) boxes offered in the suites. This type of lack of details/non-customer service continued thru-out the week, being very noticeable in the food/beverage part of the all-inclusive. Staff might greet you, but that was mostly it. Many staff seemed to be more interested in their own conversations, than to pay attention to the guests. Many food items were sold out from the limited menu items, with most items not being replaced during our stay. On the positive, the resort had just hired a very experienced food and beverage Manager named Martin, that was a blessing to our family. He was aware of the many issues we were dealing with, and he went above and beyond to assist us during our stay. He's the reason we don't continue on with our negative comments. I believe Martin will make some really positive changes at the resort, and will try to work with the staff to be more customer centric. His energy and attention to detail are very noticeable, and I'm sure the other staff will take note. The resort has an opportunity to make some positive changes, and think that Martin is the perfect Manager to lead the team. This is why we have titled the subject line "resort in transition". T & B

    Good BUT lacking attention to detail

    We stayed in 3 bdrm villa-very spacious, comfortable beds, beautiful grounds, friendly staff HOWEVER attention to detail was lacking. Windows were foggy/dirty, kitchen faucet was falling off, patio door handle very loose, adequate cooking supplies were missing, master shower filled with water, and plumbing was not adequate as we were asked to not flush toilet paper. Upon departure, scooby tours was supposed to take us to airport (included with reservation) but they didn't show up. They had to call a taxi and asked us to pay mad submit a receipt- I requested they pay, which they agreed to. So finally, we departed 1 hour later than planned.
