Even though everyone at this resort was friendly and kind, the service is VERY slow, from the kitchen to room service. The food is TERRIBLE and the shuttle bus service is not convenient. You will need to take taxi's back to the resort which becomes expensive. It is not worth the trouble

Acoya has the potential to be a great place to vacation, however the staff needs A LOT OF TRAINING! They have a lot of young people working there. They are constantly on their phones, laughing, and goofing around, takes about 30-45 mins. to be serviced at any of their restaurants or bars. We had several issues in our stay we had to leave after 2 nights and book at the Renaissance in town (best service- Acoya should get trained by the renaissance staff- very professional, polite, accommodating- if it wasn't for us moving to the renaissance, we would had had an awful experience in Curacao) Going back to Acoya, maybe it was our fault, but things started on dY 1 of our stay. We weren't saying anything at first until the last straw the toilet wants working and we had to go from the third floor to the lobby to use the restroom in the middle of the night. #1 We were force to pay the All inclusive fee of $1,400 usd for 6 days for 2 people. We are hardly ever at the hotel because we like to go and explore so it is just a waste of money because we never usually never eat or drink at any hotel we stay at. Since we had to pay we were going to try to eat and drink at the hotel. We arrived Saturday around 3pm. There isn't anything near Acoya. You definitely need a car and we couldn't rent one because according to the the front desk everything is closed at 6pm and Sundays usually everything is closed. #2 The food isn't great and their service is horrible. We were told restaurants opened from 6-10. On our 1st night we go to La Troterria restaurant at 8:55pm we were 2 feet from a family of 6. The hostess cleaned a table for them and then told us (party of 2) to sit anywhere. Took 35 mins for anyone to come to our table. It is 9:35pm. A waiter finally comes to our table to tell us the kitchen is closed. We told the young man, we were there for 35 mins waiting for service and it isn't even 10. We had just arrived to the island and we are greeted this way. The young man ended up serving us after he went to speak to the hostess to verify we weren't lying to him. #2 Suday- 2nd day. We are at the pool and ask for wings and a bbq chicken pizza. After waiting for an hour, we see a waiter with our order go and drop it off at a cabana. (We were sitting next to the bar where we ordered and were the only ones at the bar area.) After 1 hour we speak to the young lady that took our order and she told us our order had already been delivered. The people at the cabana brought it back to the the bar and told them it wasn't theirs. They wanted to serve that same food to us. NO WAY!!! We had to wait another 45 mins for them to cook our food. THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!!!! #3 We had dinner Sunday night at the hotel and I was served raw chicken. I told the waitress and she laughed about it and asked what would I like for her to do. Hmmmmm how about tell your "chef" food is raw and bring COOKED chicken. To top it off I had a question about one of their items on the menu, waitress didn't know what it was, she went to ask a 2 of the other waitresses and none of them knew. They finally went to get the chef to explain what it was which sounded great, but unfortunately they dont make it because they don't know how. Why have something on your menu nobody know what it is and how to cook/bake it. #4 We asked about the hot stone massage. Front desk called their spa center to check availability. We were informed that 12pm was available for 2 people. WRONG!!! They only have 1 massage therapist. My friend went at 12 and I had my massage at 1pm. Which caused us to miss the shuttle that takes you downtown. We were not about to pay $80 to go downtown, so we ended up being stuck in the hotel. #5 We advised the front desk that our toilet wasn't working. The young lady told us that she would send maintenance. She was too busy chatting with a coworker and didn't input it in their system. (We found out from another employee that she is a "student worker", she doesn't really work there, but she was the only one at the front desk- how can the have someone who is in "training" be left alone to tend to guests.) #6 Our room was not serviced all day. We called the front desk and they said it would get made. Nope!!! We gave them til 11pm and nothing. When we went to the front desk CATHY who is the only one that seems to know how to work and the only knowledgeable told us our request for maintenance and servicing our room had not been put in the system. Cathy stayed way past her work hours to try to make our stay a little more pleasant. At this point all those little things boiled up and I was pissed off, I explained everything to Cathy and she wrote everything in the system. We drove around the resort to find a studio. Apparently no studios were available. She allowed us to stay at a 2 bedroom villa. This was such a horrible experience and All I wanted to do was leave. We spoke to general manager. He seemed uninterested. Seemed to not care. We even offered him to rewrite their letter with resort credits which is very misleading. He seemed to be surprised about all the complaints. According to the lady manager Other guests have complained and he hasnt done anything. She is the one that encouraged us to speak to the GM because apparently he doesn't listen to the workers. She wasn't the only one that told us this. The 2 young kids serving the sports bar told us, and so did 1 other employee. They were wrong, the GM doesn't even listen to resort guests. We had excursion we had already paid for, unfortunately we had to leave our luggage at Acoya and return for it afterwards. When we returned everyone knew about what had happened with us. I waited behind another guest so I can get our luggage and I their native tongue Papiamento the employees were speaking about us. To their surprise I have translator and knew what they were saying. This was the WORST EXPERIENCE!!!! However, I will say that maybe just maybe with the right training, this resort has potential to be great.

    Greattttt stay!!!!!
