    One of the worst Disney hotel experiences ever!

    $600 a night gets you: 1 hour check in The concierge made all of our dining arrangements for the weekend prior, so no reservations for us! Never ending hallways laid out like a maze to get to your room? check! $120 for 4 for breakfast, for cold awful food? yes! Room door that wouldn't lock with calls to the overworked front desk, finally a room service guy showed us how to rig the lock o it would work. Surly mall security each time you leave the property that so make you feel " magical" Beautiful lobby ,but you're so angry you wasted $600/night, you just look past that feature

    Hotel amazing - service needs to match price

    We visited here in September of 2017 and couldn't find a single fault in the property. It was amazing. Decided to come back in November of 2018. Per the other recent reviews I saw, we too encountered some problems. Check in was a disaster. At least an hour. I was told they implemented a new computer system that week and that was why the wait was so long. Quite frankly, I don't care. I paid $600 a night for a room - they need to fix that immediately. My kids hanging in the lobby for an hour wasn't exactly the way to get the vacation started either. Pool closure - We didn't care as much about the water slide pool being closed because our kids don't love slides, but it was closed for most of the three days we were there. I understand they are trying to get it done prior to the Christmas rush and there are no "days off" at Disney so I can let this one go. Room service food was actually pretty good - better than anywhere on the Disney property. Food in the park is what you would expect. Expensive and average. Bring a case of water to the resort. The tap water is gross in Anaheim. (And do not bother with the Carthay Circle gourmet restaurant. Food was legit terrible for $60 an entree. Bar was nice downstairs if you wanted some glamour but don't go any further.) Grand Californian cannot be beat for location if you want ease into the park but it would be nice if they hired some more workers and the service matched the price and beauty of the hotel.

    Over priced disappointing

    Visited late oct 3 nites nearly $1000AUD a nite. Checked in and was told u have been upgraded ??WTF would hate 2 c the other room view was overgrown trees , room small and miles to walk to. Never again. Oh you get early entry into the 2 parks. Great I thought (been to DL and CAL ADV PARK) heaps of times so thought beat the crowd. Why bother no stores were open and only 2 rides were working. Was told all the other rides had tech faults yet 9 am when the parks opened they miraculously were working Didn’t bother going to the early entry for the next day. Also fast past are a joke if you get one when you get there and the time on the card is like late that night we’ll you can’t get another one for another ride until u used that one. How about having something you can trade your fast past for another ride. Ride times are ridiculous the least time was 75 minutes at each ride. When your paying $160 USD a ticket a day and spend most of the day queuing up for rides it’s a waste of time and money.

    The hotel is fantastic for access to the resort but everything else was a let down. Check in - be prepared for check in to take a couple of hours. Disney staff don't seem to think this is an issue. We had a major issue at check in - we were allocated room keys to a room that was already in use and our family ended up accessing their room. It took Disney another 1.5 hours to fix this and get us into a new room. By that time the park had almost closed for the day. Disney staff tried to rectify this with some fastpasses Pools - Disney decided to close the waterslide pool for 80% of the duration of our 3 day stay. This was really disappointing for our kids. This pool didn't need to be closed - it was just because workmen needed to get access to the pool snacks area which was being rebuilt. The result of this was that there were no lounger seats available (with the largest pool area out of service), a massive number of people in the other pools and grumpy kids who love the waterslide. Disney staff were unapologetic for this. In addition, the Disney life guards are "fun police". There's thousands of rules to be able to use their pool areas. Food - overpriced for poor quality. Taking your own food into the resort is a good idea (we saw others taking whole foods shopping bags in) Disneyland itself had many rides shut for planned maintenance including Matterhorn, Small World, Space Mountain, World of Colour etc. Rooms - were ok size and have little fridges and coffee machines. It's not worth paying more for the views as they're still pretty obscured.

    Disneyland will never be the same...

    We have taken our family vacation to Disneyland a lot! We love it there! We have rented beautiful houses close by and stayed in much less expensive hotels right across the street from Disneyland that were literally (we actually timed it) less than 5 minutes from the time you walked out the front gates to the time you were at the hotel. But staying here is the ultimate in Disney vacationing! We have also stayed at the Disneyland Hotel, (which is awesome!) but it is quite a long walk from the gates, all the way through downtown Disney to finally reach the hotel. This was the best experience for our family! Mind you, not cheap, but the best! As far as the staff goes, I would say that they are your typical Disneyland Hotel staff, friendly, kind, but uncompromising on pretty much every level. It doesn't matter if you reserved and paid for a room with a view if it's not available, the attitude is, "we're sorry, sir. Do you still want to stay with us at full price or would you care to hunt down a room somewhere else?" We have only had that experience once before and we would still go back because of the atmosphere and the location.
