Tired Hotel. Poorly Maintained and Managed.

Maintenance is an issue: After paying for an upgraded room we discovered this room was not any better. After completely unpacking we realized one of the sinks had a 12' crack in it that leaked water everywhere. We had to lay several towels underneath it. The shower had black mildew, cracks and chips in the tile causing water to leak here too. I did address it with management. They came and clear dapped both. The shower still leaked. One of the lamp bases had a great deal of rust on it. Plus pictures in the room had black mildew under the glass. Both in need of replacement. This room should never have been available to guests. Surely the cleaning crew or previous guest would have alerted them. Showed me they didn't care. Housekeeping is an issue: The bathroom had black marks on the wall near the sink that I could wipe off easily with a cloth, the shower when used had some writing on the inside glass that a previous guest had left. Not sure how long it has been there but looked to say 25th of.... to us. Very large black trash bags were left laying in the hallways until the entire building was serviced including Ironing boards, muffin wrappers, meal baskets and shirts from guests were just left sitting in hallways sometimes for several days. Lacked Comfort: The beds were not comfortable and lumpy pillows too. Way past being changed out or poor quality. My husband and I have stayed at many many hotels in the last 15 years here and in Europe and this hotel ranks up there as the worst in terms of maintenance, housekeeping and comfort. He never has problems sleeping and this one he did. Said it was very hard to relax with all the lumps. Management not responsive to issues: I addressed my concerns with GM and showed him photos. He seemed concerned and took off one night. Still charged us for the upgrade which is ridiculous but with everything wrong in the room we felt more should have been done. He didn't go by the room to look himself or come to check if the cleaning he asked for was done right. It wasn't. The black marks and writing on the shower glass still remained. It meant they don't clean rooms well and that direction comes from the top. We were told there were no other upgrades we could do and the following day the hotel was full so no where to go. We had to prepay for the hotel so could not back out as this would have been a better solution. It is a private family owned hotel that has seen better days as the write up for it is very good but it is long past its prime. If you read they spent quite a bit on improvements but it appears the improvements were to the golf resort and spa but not to the rooms. At least the two rooms I saw which desperately need an overhaul. No Resort Fee is not a plus: Please note they do advertise themselves as no resort fee or valet fee but what they don't tell you is they charge you for use of stuff at the beach. Just one umbrella and 2 beds at the beach is $44 which is equal to more than one days resort fee at other hotels. Plus it is self parking and you may not have a spot near your building if you go out to dinner. Internet charge: They charge for internet at $10 daily. Plus our phone service did not work in the room we were in. I read others had this same issue. We had to go in the parking lot to use our phone. Only good thing about this stay was the view of the ocean from our room. Period.

Thank goodness we found this hotel after leaving the Naples grande Beach resort and their poor customer service and their so called gulf view rooms with the gulf in the didtance and their crazy resort and parkingfees. In this hotel, and dont mistake these hotels because of their similar names, we have a gulf Front room, great customer service, beautiful beachfront right outside your door, besutiful pools and restaurants and NO fees and NO attitude!!! This place is a gem!!!!

My husband had a business trip and I tagged along for a relaxing few days. This complex is quite big and spread out. There is not alot of regular parking and what free parking there was, the valet attendants were taking advantage of leaving the regular guests searching for parking which seemed wrong. The buildings are older, and there is a heavy musky smell in the lobby. There are several restaurants on site which we tried, but nothing was fabulous, just typical sandwiches, wraps and hamburgers. We had a regular king sized room, the Gulf of Mexico was just down the hall and around the corner from our room. However the pools were clear at the other end of the complex and were always busy and crowded, the beach was much more peaceful.

Clean rooms, great facility for a business meeting with golf course across the street. Catered food was better than average for a banquet style serve. Nice staff and convenient location with adequate parking. The only issue was that we heard the facility was recently purchased and will be closing soon for total renovation.

We come to Naples regularly and have stayed here before. See my review here: https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g34467-d87436-r592191931-The_Naples_Beach_Hotel_Golf_Club-Naples_Florida.html. The property is older but beautiful and well-maintained. Our check-in experience was good and the room nice - facing the garden areas. The location can't be beat - situated right on the beach and not far from downtown Naples. There is a nice fitness area and spa and the golf course is next to the hotel. Unfortunately, however, for reasons described below, I'll have to seriously reconsider another stay. With 2 young children, we appreciate amenities available right on the property. Here there are several, but there are limitations. Lets start with restaurants: I started each day with Starbucks coffee from the onsite cafe which opens at 6:30 a.m. I think i was the first one in each day... We ate breakfast every day at Broadwell's (on property) and each day enjoyed the company of Basel (except for his day off). I'm not a fan of buffets, generally, but this one had several options for kids (including healthy options) and it had steel cut oats (of which I'm a fan). Breakfast for four of us generally ran about $50-$60 which is high, but seems about right for the convenience and great service. Well done! Lunch and dinner options include the Sunset Bar and Grill and HB's. This is where it gets weird. One casual night (Monday), we tried to each at the Sunset Grill but when we sat down, by a nice open-air table on the beach, a staff member came to close up all of the doors and windows around us. When I explained we were enjoying the breeze and asked to leave them open, he said it couldn't be done. So rather than sit with no breeze, we got up and moved into HB's. Very annoying. Strike one. HB's is offered as fine-dining, but offers no vegetarian options for adults. None, nada, zero. At least they will bring the veggie/blackbean burger from the Sunset Grill (and that runs about $18 each). So for a couple of nights, my wife and I got the veg burger and a bottle of wine. The wine selection for bottles is good, but keep in mind you will pay top markup. We also hosted family members for dinner one night and were provided excellent service by Assad. The food, by most accounts in our group, runs from pedestrian to very good - but is very expensive. On Tuesday night, we hosted family again for a birthday dinner (8 of us in total). Since no one else wanted wine, I opted for a glass from among several options presented on the wine list. The wine was skunked, but rather than cause a scene, I simply asked what was available by the glass that wasn't sitting - oxidizing overnight or for several days. I was told that, as a matter of policy, since they were slow, they would not open a fresh bottle to pour a glass (even though I'd probably drink 2 or 3 glasses myself). Instead, I'd have to pick among whatever was already open on the shelf. (Now, keep in mind the restaurant was basically dead on Monday and Tuesday so this is all old stuff). Now, also consider that the glass I ordered was $20 dollars - which was in the middle-range of the per glass price. Now, the idea that - not only will they offer and sell skunked wine for over $20/glass - but that their policy is to only sell this skunked stuff by the glass is, in a word, disgusting and makes me question their other kitchen tactics that we can't see. Strike two. I do appreciate that wine may go bad, but then don't offer it on the menu - and certainly don't serve garbage as a matter of policy. I'd respectfully suggest this is no way to remedy how slow your are. On the plus side, I'm very appreciative that they accommodated our group for a birthday and graciously presented a birthday cake that we brought in. Thank you. Finally, a third issue is the golf course. I'm trying to get my daughter into golf and through this might present a good opportunity. The weather was crappy - with intermittent storms every day, but I would have liked to go on the driving range with my girl to get a little practice, but that is not permitted. So not exactly kid friendly. All in all, having dropped upwards of $250-$400 per day on food and drink alone (prices are really high on everything) on property, I am about to check out feeling like I way overpaid for service that was not near what it was on my last trip. I'll have to seriously reconsider another stay here - and you should too.
