We finally visited the Beaches Ocho Rios Resort on May 11-14. We were originally suppose to vacation in May 2019 but due to the pandemic we had to reschedule. Upon arrival we were greeted by a Sandals representative and shortly after we were on the bus to the resort. I had requested a car seat a few days prior and thankfully we decided to bring our own as there was not one waiting for us. The shuttle bus was air conditioned and the driver was nice. Once we arrived at the resort the staff were very welcoming, showed us around the property and walked us to our room. Once again, I had requested a crib for our baby but it was not in the room. ROOM: Greek Beachfront Concierge Terrace Suite King - OTK The room was spacious but it had a musty smell. We had such a long travel day that we did not want to deal with requesting a different room since the baby was already fussy. There was plenty of space for prepping baby bottles. The cleaning staff did great and were very friendly. RESTAURANTS: The first evening we ate at Neptune's. There was a flight of stairs with no wheelchair access so we had to take apart the infant carseat and carry down the stroller separately. I ordered a salad, lentil soup and swordfish- they were good. My husband was torn between two dishes and the server said she'd put both on one plate. He was excited but quickly disappointed with how small the portion ended up being. He said it was good but ended up eating a 9pm snack at the late night restaurant since he was not full. The second evening we ordered dinner to-go from the Italian restaurant. I ordered the grilled chicken and vegetables over pasta and red sauce. I only had frozen peas and obviously expected more vegetables. My husband ordered steak and he said it was such a bad cut of meat. He ended up feeding half of it to the stray cat nearby. We ate breakfast at the Bayside buffet and enjoyed this the most. I wish there would have been more fresh fruit selection. I was hoping to find tropical fruit but only saw the typical honeydew, watermelon, and pineapple selection each morning. The first full day we ate lunch at the pizza and grill restaurant. The jerk burger patty was good, but the hamburger bun was stale and the lettuce and tomato were soggy. We ordered chips and queso and the queso was most definitely melted nacho cheese from a can. The second day we ate lunch at the bayside buffet and it was asian theme. The magnolian beef was tough and the scallops in the stir fry were so tiny like they were frozen. I ordered a fruit smoothie from the crepe restaurant... I watched the server pour mango flavored syrup into the blender with a load of ice and serve it with a cherry on top. Super disappointing, I expected real fruit not syrup smoothie. Our last evening we ate at the French restaurant and once again we encountered a massive flight of stairs with no wheelchair access. The staff helped me carry the stroller up while my husband carried the car seat. We ordered a charcuterie board for appetizer. When it was brought out we couldn't hide our laughter. It was literally a plate of old deli meat, a deviled egg and mustard smeared for decor. We couldn't believe this is what they brought out and were giggling so hard. My husband said one slice of ham tasted like very thinly sliced SPAM. At this point we had experienced so much mediocre food but the old deli meat really did it for us. This is a luxury resort serving below average quality- very disappointing. Overall, the staff were truly so kind and helpful, but the food was absolutely terrible which is the main reason for the low rating. We have experienced all-inclusive resorts a dozen times and this resort was super disappointing. COVID has apparently changed the quality of food available on this property.

Best vacation with a young toddler

We just returned from a week at Beaches Ocho Rios with our 19 month old. We literally cannot imagine a more fun and relaxing vacation with a young toddler. We have been recommending it to all of our friends. The staff should be commended on their service and their dedication to a safe experience. HIGHLIGHTS -The Sesame Street Parade - don't miss it if you have kids! -Out of the Blue pop-up restaurant which had the most amazing dinner -the Beach Party with performers and dancing -the view from our Greek Village room - Kids Camp where our daughter (who doesn't go to day care) had a great time and didn't even miss us - the beautiful kid-friendly beach and gorgeous ocean - the level of service and cleanliness at all times - The couples massage!!! - Honestly, the drinks are so delicious. We wanted to give a special shout out to some staff members. - Cassandra at Bayview who played with our daughter every morning at breakfast - Kameaka and Janice A. At Le Parisienne who helped entertain our girl when she was being fussy from a diaper rash - the lifeguard at the pool by Josephines (we missed your name) but he was so friendly - Natalee at the adventure desk who went out of her way to book an ATV adventure that fit our schedule - Oniel with the concierge team who helped us blow up a baby raft and was so friendly -Ackell the lifeguard at the water park who all the kids loved Our only suggestion is to remodel the toddler section of the water park! It is a bit worn. Our tips for parents of young toddlers: - Get a Greek Village room so when they are napping or down for the night it is easy for you to go out and about or even just hang out on the terrace - Use the Kids Camp; it is awesome - Don't miss the Sesame Street parade - Bring beach toys and pool toys (including inflatable sand buckets and floats) - Change swim diapers ASAP or risk a rash - Use zinc oxide sunscreen frequently on your kiddos - Bayside has great "kids" food like sliced fruit, yogurt and cheese slices you could take back to your room for snack time. - The resort is stroller friendly but is compact enough you could also just carry them.

    Great family vacation!

We stayed in the Greek Honeymoon suites for a week. The rooms were great with a nice patio view of the beach. I recommend the second or third floor for better view than the first floor. We did four scuba dives, and the entire scuba crew was great, especially Claudy who did a refresher course in the pool and Muscles, both of which led a couple dives for us. If you haven’t dove in the past 18 months, they require you to do the refresher class. We also paid $100 each to scuba at the Kathryn’s shipwreck site which was pretty cool. A few of us in our group went golfing. The course is okay and easier than average though with exceptionally slow greens. Cost is $20 per person for a caddie (plus expected tip) and $30 if you rent a cart (though walking is pretty easy when a caddie is carrying your clubs, and $60 if you need to rent clubs. The hotel seemed like it was at 25% capacity, so anything we wanted to do: scuba, catamarans, kayaking, paddleboarding, chairs at beach and pools, restaurants, bars, etc. was never an issue. I would guess that isn’t always the case, but it was for us. Food and drinks were great. Service was top notch. Especially like the La Parissienne restaurant (Janice A was excellent) and Out of the Blue (Odessia also was excellent). Entertainment was okay, though with so few people it kind of lacks the energy that would help, especially with karaoke or Piano Bar. Orville did a great job with the entertainment.

The staff absolutely made the trip. So much so, that we re-booked another week there next year! This was our first experience with our kids at a Beaches, as we have previously only done Sandals and it will not be our last! First of all Rushanne (aka ’Tom Cruise’) was amazing with the kids. He made sure their every day was so much fun. Also, Mouse, Peta, Yuri and the crew at the dive shop were tremendous and went above and beyond so many times to make things work, rearrange schedules, and ensure nobody in our family was left out of experiences. They were outstanding! Also, Claude and Hanief were so, so, so good at the restaurants, making sure every meal was special! Finally, Auntie Pat in the craft shop. She was an absolute gem and so good with the kids. They all made the trip into an amazing experience!!!
