What can I say about Kidani, other that it was an amazing trip? We became Disney Vacation Club members during our most recent trip in February. We decided to come “home” to celebrate our kids birthdays and fall break. Because we are a family of four, and only were coming in for a few days we decided that a Deluxe studio would fit our needs perfectly. Within the deluxe studio we had a mini fridge, toaster, microwave, and full-size coffee pot. Additionally, we had glass dishware and silverware which I was not expecting after watching some room tour videos on YouTube.  Our room had a large bathroom with a separate toilet area, one queen bed and one queen pullout sofa and your normal standardized hotel room items such as television, table, dresser, plenty of USB chargers and outlets. The only item I noticed we did not have, was an alarm clock, I can only assume this is because we are DVC vs a normal hotel stay. We were room 7664, this was about a 3-5 minute walk from the lobby. I know this does not sound like a long walk, however it seemed like it was a lot longer than that. The halls are long and narrow, with each part shaped almost in a small horseshoe shape. If you drive your own vehicle to the resort you can park in the underground parking and take an elevator up closer to your room. If walking long distance is an issue, I would recommend requesting a room closer to the lobby. We were lucky enough to be able to secure an awesome Savanah view, watching the Zebras and Giraffe come near our room was truly an experience. We did notice that we could hear the rooms above us, more than before at other hotels but I believe it is because the halls were narrow and echoed, this was not a big deal for us, but if you or your family are light sleepers you might want to request a room on a higher floor. During our trip we did do MNSSHP and food and wine, however like previously stated we spent the majority of our time at Kidani and Jambo House. We really enjoyed the pools at both locations, we thought that Kidani had a better slide, the pool side activities were great, we enjoyed name that tune, villains bingo and our favorite activity was the “String of memories” bead activity which was a free activity. The only real thing about Kidani that I thought was off, was there is no quick services location at Kidani. The Mara is only located at Jambo, this is not a long walk at all, maybe 5-10 minute walk or you can take the shuttle. I understand that Kidani is DVC style rooms, although it would have been great to be able to run downstairs and grab a milk when we ran out vs over to the other ALK location. We also had some amazing cast member interactions, everyone was super knowledgeable about the animals, went out of their way to make my boys feel special for their birthday celebration. We did utilize the community room for a game of pool and the arcade as my boys were gifted play cards, however we did not end up using them as the night we went all games were free. I’m not sure if this is a typically occurrence but it was a nice surprise. We also did utilize the gym at Kidani, it was nice to get a work out in prior to heading out to MNSSHP, we did not partake in the pool side bars at either, nor did I research the menu. We did eat in the Sanna lounge and I did enter a review on that separately.

I've been wanting to stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge for years. We were able to book a stay with my husband and 2 of our 18+ children. Originally booked a 1 bedroom Savannah view with 2 bathrooms. When we checked in they upgraded us to a 2 bedroom/3 bath Villa with a gorgeous view of the Savannah. Yes, we had a solid 5 minute walk from the lobby to yo ur room, but it was so quiet and the room was wonderful! Everything you could think you might need is in the room, including coffee, coffeemaker, dishwasher, full oven, and a stacked washer/dryer. The room was super clean and well stocked with linens, soap, lotion, etc. Drinking coffee on the porch in the morning while listening to the birds and watching the giraffe and wildebeests eat breakfast was unforgettable. Thank you, Wilderness Villas for a lovely stay.

I've stayed at Kidani before, and I guess I've gotten lucky with my room all past times. When I checked in this trip, neither of my room requests (close to the lobby or lower floor) were even remotely honored. I understand that they are requests, but we were on the highest floor and about as far from the lobby as you can get. This made the trek to park transportation terrible. On top of all this, the lack of a quick service restaurant is glaring with very minimal choices offered at the pool bar. The saving grace is obviously the savanna, but also the daily activities and cast members. Overall, with a better room location and a useful quick service, this hotel could be 4-5 stars.

Loved our stay at Jambo house but hated our stay at kidani village felt like a budget resort

First off the pool at kidani village is better than jambo house except for the fact that every single person in our party(11 people in total) got sick after swimming in the pool. Jambo house offers more. Kidani is not kid friendly for food choices at all and we were not going to take the shuttle over to jambo house every time we wanted to eat. There were 5 kids in our party and when it came to the restaurant they did have, it definitely was not a kid friendly restaurant. It didnt even appeal to some of the adults in our group. So we were left to buying snack things or things like lunchables alot in the grocery area. The rooms seemed even more simple than jambo house rooms. The light on the magnifying mirror didnt work, normally I wouldnt care but the lighting in the bathroom was so poor at times I really wanted to be able to use it. We also were having issues with some of the buses, they were taking forever to come back. Some guests after waiting awhile called an uber, which arrived before the bus even. I would much rather stay at jambo house and take the shuttle over to kidani's pool than ever stay at kidani again due to the lack of food choices which made things difficult with 5 kids. For the amount of money it cost to stay there I expect more from Disney. The rooms to be in better shape and for the amenities to be better than what they were. I felt we got what someone staying at a Disney budget hotel would have gotten.
