Have been staying at different Universal resorts and this time wanted to try one of their newest. It is literally right next to Sapphire Falls but with lower rate. It’s not as grand as its next door neighbor but the selling points for Aventura are the rooms with ceiling to floor windows and modern/hi-tech vibes. Room is a bit smaller compared to other Universal resorts, especially the size of bathroom. The fastest ways to get to the parks are either by walking which takes about 15 mins or walk over to Sapphire Falls and take water taxi from the lowest floor. We didn’t take the bus shuttle as it takes longer and the drop off location requires to walk pass the entire Citywalk to get to the parks. We will be returning to Universal again in two weeks and will be staying at Sapphire for its bigger rooms, bigger pools, and more of a “themed” hotel.

Great hotel & location, poor house keeping!

We had a 9 night stay recently. We arrived late and the guy checking us in was very helpful, we got a nice room overlooking Sapphire Falls and IoA. I loved the size of this hotel, everything is so compact, this is our 5th on-site US stay, our 1st at Aventura. Great food options and a nice vibe about the place. Pool area can get quite windy. VB only 3 minutes walk from the pool area and such a fab waterpark. Bar 17 was nice for an evening and we did a pool movie night. We walked to SF for the boat to US, this is so much better than taking the bus. The only issue we encountered was poor house keeping. As mentioned in a previous review, we had random black hairs (none of us black hair) around the sink and bathroom area. Beds weren't fixed up properly, sheet hanging all to 1 side and the blanket to the other etc, I always had to re-make the bed. Floor never felt clean. After a couple of days we declined house keeping every second day. Our sheets weren't changed at all during our stay, 1 pillow case (out of 4) was changed about day 6, my dd got make-up on it. And not that it matters but we did tip each day. I know we could have mentioned it at reception but each thing was a small thing and by the time the sheets bothered me, we were leaving soon but just looking back at the overall picture of good and bad points, I think this is something that needs to be addressed. We got the length of stay cups for $18+ and this was an incredible bargain for the use we got from them. Just to note about the ipad, I read before our stay that everything was controlled from it. I didn't use the TV but I did not pick up the ipad once (dd's did of course) and I had no issues manually turning on/off all lights and controlling the AC.

Stayed 4 nights here for convenience to parks. When we were here there were very few guests and it was very cold in the evening meaning we did not use the pool (which looked very nice) but rather enjoyed the fire pit. Visited the rooftop bar which seemed nice, but just too cold to stay. Lobby was spacious as was the food area, but not sure what it would be like at a busy time. Plenty of speedy elevators. Front desk staff was excellent—Jeffrey helped us three separate times as we were getting the hang of the place. Convenient parking in a building right next door . Room had floor to ceiling Windows and laminate flooring which is a nice change from the usual carpeting with dubious cleanliness. Nice wardrobe with plenty of hangers and a safe. There was a Fridge and drawers in the desk area; no microwave but there are two in the Urban Pantry which we used. Ventilation system was good and quiet. We had a king bed which was comfortable enough but very noisy springs. The bed is up against the window so the person on that side needs to get in and out from the bottom of the bed. There was a single wide sink with adjacent shelves which really made it easy for both of us to have handy every thing we needed—really love this feature. Toilet and shower are in an adjacent room with a pocket door. Both worked well. Towels and linens were nice. I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed for 4 nights for a conference elsewhere at Universal. The hotel is new, with a modern design theme. I wish they made it more movie-style modern (round surfaces, light panels) just to boost the character. The staff is what shined for us - in every part of the hotel. Everybody was cheerful, gracious, helpful and made sure everything was just right for us. We didn't eat much at the hotel, but the rooftop bar has great views and really good food as well (at typical park prices). There is a good variety of food at the downstairs restaurant and a Starbucks in the lobby. It is at the edges of the park, but just a 15-20 minute walk. We found the water taxi from the Sapphire Falls next door to be the most enjoyable way to get to the parks and they land you right in CityWalk instead of outside it like the buses. Transportation runs from 7AM to 2AM, well beyond the park's hours, but good for CityWalk access. We did have an issue with GPS taking rideshare drivers to the hotel next door, so we started texting them to look for the tall tower.

I have stayed at other Loews Hotels onsite in the past. I am a Florida resident, as well as an annual pass holder for the Universal parks. This past weekend my mom and I decided to try the Aventura, since we have not stayed there before. We checked in on Friday, November 15. We hadn't heard much about this hotel, and wanted to give it a try. Upon entering the hotel we noted that it was very modern, and had some great interesting features. After checking in, my mom and I quickly brought our bags to the room, and proceeded to go to check out Bar 17. We then went to the Urban Pantry for dinner. Once we finished eating we went back up to our room on the ninth floor. This is when we noticed that there were crumbs all over the floor, on the chair, along with glitter and a fingernail from a previous guest. When I went to the bathroom I noticed several black hairs all over the floor. Some even appeared to have been swept into the corner and forgotten. There were also hairs left behind in the shower. I went down to the desk to inform them of the cleanliness issues in the room. I spoke with Simmy, and she informed me that this is not the norm, and had housekeeping come up to take care of the issues. Chris arrived with Gustavo, as well as another man whose name I did not catch. They found even more filth left behind on the sides of the bed, on the desk, under the desk, and even found a stain on the pillowcase. They were very apologetic and handled the situation as best as they could. We understand that it was not their fault that the room was as dirty as it was. Once they left, we decided to get ready for bed since it was so late. This is when my mom ended up finding a long black hair in between the wash cloth and hand towel. I believe it is important to note that my mom and I do not have dark hair. I went back to the front desk, and they had more towels sent up. The next morning, we decided to extend our trip, but opted to transfer rooms. We didn't think there would be the cleanliness issues in another room. We get assigned a new room on the eleventh floor. I ended up taking some bags up to the room, and noticed more crumbs all over the floor and chair. I then check the bathroom and noticed more black hairs on the bathroom floor, the walls, and sink. Again, housekeeping came back to clean while we were out. When we came back, there were still hairs throughout the bathroom. When housekeeping came back, they used the same terrycloth rag to clean the room, and the bathroom. This is a contamination issue. My mom mentioned that the rag could be spreading the hairs, and sure enough the housekeeping manager said, "They may not be folding the rags like they should." This proves that the housekeeping manager is aware of the contamination practices. While in the elevator, we met another guest who mentioned she had issues with the cleanliness as well, and she was on the sixteenth floor. This is appalling, and not what you would expect from a Loews Hotel.
