We’ve just returned from the LBP Akumal. We had a lovely holiday. Staff are so attentive. The animation team around the Infinity Pool were great, a special shout out to Cesar and Alejandro who were great fun. The rooms are immaculate with superb air conditioning and beautiful bathrooms. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. We had such a relaxing time that we didn’t manage to see a quarter of the resort, therefore, we’ve just rebooked for 2020. The food is brilliant with lots of choice and something for every taste. We took breakfast and lunch in the Infinity restaurant where we were looked after by Alma and Perpetuo who work so hard. Lots of sun beds and umbrellas, although it’s a shame that people reserve sun beds at 6am then don’t use them until 11am or later, there must be a way of stopping this. I hope this is something that is addressed by management prior to our return. See you in 2020

Don't let the size of this property scare you away. They have a great inter resort golf cart shuttle service. If you want full access (eat at buffets & drink) to all 3 resorts (Akumal, Coba & Tulum), you have to stay at Akumal. We stayed at Tulum & did not feel we missed out on anything. The food was the best I have experienced at an all inclusive. I have been to over 10 different properties. The a la carte restaurants were good for a change. Tulum has the best beach near the Silver lobby. A hidden paradise within the resort. The main pool & bar are clean and the water is perfect. Not hard to find a shady spot under a palapa. The only downside is no drink service at the pool. The rooms are spacious and clean. I was pleasantly surprised at the jetted tub in the bathroom. There is a large closet but only 4 small drawers. I highly recommend the outdoor Jacuzzi at the spa. Have a massage with Barbara first, you will be a noodle after. The premium WiFi at $9 for 14 days is a bargain and was excellent all over the resort.

Me and my wife spent 2 weeks there at beginning of September it was our 4th visit over the past eight years so we have seen a few changes, some good some not so good, the Thursday nigh Mexican show at the hacienda was amazing the fact you no longer have to pay for you're safe was a bonus, on the down side the hacienda needs to make more use of the smaller stage and maybe move the karaoke back closer to where the bars are. Now back to the reason we have been 4 times. The gbp is beautiful, the food in the buffet and restaurants is always great, the service from all the staff could not be better, we had one complaint related to the romantic meal for two this was dealt with by the manager of the tequila restaurant who sorted it quickly professionally and even found the time to visit us at don Pablo's the next evening to make sure we where happy. Now I could say that was the best service I've ever experienced but it comes a close second to the service we received at breakfast and lunch every day at the tequila by the legend called Gabriel, he once again made our stay so memorable we can't wait to return. Thank you to everyone who works there ????

Excellent staff, lovely holiday with a few let downs

Just returned from an 11 night holiday at this hotel. One the very most part, excellent but a few tiny things let it down slightly. On arrival, what felt like a million staff members there to greet you, taking your luggage, ushering you to the check in desks and providing you with drinks and fruit etc. Then take you to your room on an electric cart. These electric carts you soon learn are darting about all over the complex, ferrying people to and from where they want to go which is excellent. The grounds of the whole complex are kept pretty much immaculate and look lovely and well kept. The Rooms are average and could do with abit of attention. They are slightly damp where sheets etc are concerned too. Good aircon in the rooms and extremely comfy beds. The alacarte restaurants I recommend are Don Pablo, Mikado tepenyaki and Tortuga Brazilian. Superb places. The staff here work around the clock to help and assist you, keep everywhere clean and tidy and Always smiling, conversing with you and can’t do enough to help. The guys on the beach clearing seaweed all day long in the baking sun.. warriors! Two staff members were truly outstanding, those being Rodolfo one of the breakfast/lunch buffet waiters. You will soon learn who this chap is, absolute legend. And secondly Miguel the main pool bar staff member. Another top quality guy. The entertainment team at the hotel are fantastic, always trying to get people to join in with games and activities and provide great entertainment to suit Everyone. Really can’t fault any of the staff at all. Some have noted in other reviews about pushy sales reps. These would be the Bahia Privilege club reps in the lobbies of each hotel within the complex and yes, they do push! So do expect to be collared by these more than once!! As for the few small let downs, The buffet has a massive choice of food to suit everyone, but on the flip side of this, a lot of food is not hot enough and is barely warm by the time you get to it which isn’t ideal. During the second week, what appeared to be half of Mexico checked in, to then find out it was their independence weekend. But no more staff or sun beds than normal to deal with such a massive influx of people. The hotel staff also need to tighten up on when to stop serving alcohol to drunk people being complete idiots by the pools. The evening entertainment is hit and miss but the Queen Tribute act was terrible. If you are a true queen fan don’t watch it! Half the singers voices are strong enough to perform and the other half just weak. You can’t sing queen with a weak voice it just does not work. Had to up and leave halfway through. And then finally for those that think this is an 18 only place... nope. As with all places you will get your fair share of loud obnoxious overbearing families and children that don’t communicate with each other, or anyone else like normal people. The type that shout everything rather than talk. Although this is not a fault of the hotel, it was seriously annoying.

Upon writing this review we are 10 days into our 14 night stay. Both myself and partner have been constantly surprised at the levels of attention to detail, the welcome and general running of this hotel. From the bell boys to the grounds staff. The bar staff, waiters and waitresses to the guys that rake the beach all day every day,in heat in excess of 34°. All with a smile and never a complaint. We read before we came that some had commented that the staff were rude and the food was inadequate. Well I'm not what you would call "easily pleased" and I can tell you, that we have experienced none of this. There are some staff, generally the house maids and garden staff that have little English but all tried to help with whatever was asked. The range of food and restaurants over the three sites is the best I have sampled over many years and holidays and by far the best for "all inclusive" as is the great entertainment. My only critique would be that some of the food could be kept hotter in the main food hall. We chose a "junior suite" for our stay which was a large comfortable ground floor room. The main bedroom with its huge bed was to a great standard as was the bathroom and the aircon has never failed us yet. Unlike many other hotels we have stayed in over the years. This is a multi sited hotel comprising of over 3000 rooms "yes 3000" and yet you would never know. We are so impressed that we have already started looking at next years holiday to one their other world wide hotels and will definitely return someday to the Grand Bahia Principe Tulum.
