    Great Service - but a bit off the beaten path

    Note: This is a pre-COVID-19 lock-down review and some things may have changed. The Caribe Hilton is nice resort hotel, and the staff - especially Hiram Avila at the outside bar - is very accommodating. (More below.) Down side: Not a lot of things that are close enough to walk to ... including alternatives to the onsite dining. However, note to the Uber savvy traveler, despite the warnings about Uber not being very available it IS... even at the airport. The room was nice and looked over the old Fortin de San Jeronimo del Boqueron, the staff very helpful, and the grounds are well kept. One of their best "promoters" is Hiram Avila at the outside bar. Hiram is very friendly, outgoing, makes everybody feel welcome and after a little while you feel that Hiram and you have been friends for a long time. We probably spent way too many hours at the bar because of Hiram. :-) (He also makes a great Pina Colada.) I would stay here again, but now know that with an Uber I can travel further away.

    I stayed with my husband this last Thanksgiving. I have stayed there about 10 times even took my grandchildren. First thing when we got to our room all appliances were disconnected lamps TV okay so we found it strange but went around and plugged everything in. Next thing we used the bathroom and it did not flush. Called the desk they did come and fixed it. The next day we went to the pool area and the pool bar was closed they went home it was 11:00 o’clock also the restaurant was closed. The next thing the air stopped working and the smell of mold was terrible caused me to have an asthma attack. Again we complained and they fixed the air. Next thing we were in our room late at night and someone tried to open the door we kept telling the person they had the wrong room but they kept pushing the door. We called security and they said it was okay because they did not have the key card so they could not get in. That was not okay to us so we had to tell them to come check the lock by the way they don’t have cameras in the hallways. We ere very disappointed and we will not go back the place is in disrepair they never finished construction after Maria there are many rooms still not in use. Everything is damaged and mold is growing on the carpeting. Stay away don’t give them your money like my husband and I did

    Stayed just a few days for work. Beautiful hotel. Room was spacious and clean. Very nice pool area. Great pina coladas! Enjoyed on site restaurants especially Lolas. Big lobby bar area near pool was very nice too

    The staff was very friendly and offered early access to the facilities. Room was made available at 12 to me, while the check-in time was 3. Breakfast was great with many selections, even though it is pricey. The pools are great.

    In March we had a wonderful stay at the Caribe Hilton. Special Thanks to the front desk ladies for finding us a beautiful ocean view room with lovely balcony and then later getting us a late check out. Second thanks to all the Bartenders who came up with delightful drink creations that covered my every whim. I have to say the cleaning lady was so nice, always asking if it was OK to clean the room when we left for breakfast. Thank you to the breakfast host for getting us an outside table. Thank you so much to the beach crew for setting up our beach chairs. Thank you so much for having a wonderful hotel. It was interesting hearing the uber drivers tell stories how how the Island has worked hard to clean up after the storm. I am excited about the next time I can come to San Juan, until then you are all in our hearts.
