Me and my husband spent a week in this beautiful hotel. I can’t rate it enough. The staff were friendly and what I loved the most they felt like part of our holiday, they danced and sang!! Just amazing. The hotel was lovely and clean. Food AMAZING!! Breakfast, lunch and dinner could not have been better and the view while eating is stunning. Drinks were lovely and loved the self serving bar by the lower pool. The only thing that spoilt the hotel was a couple of young people who clearly didn’t read the reviews before booking. It is not an 18-30s hotel. If you want peace, calm and relaxation this is the perfect place. Plenty of trips if you want to do something and the hotel has a bus that will take you to the beach or into the harbour. The only improvement I could recommend is put some information in the rooms letting people know what days things are happening. We went to the meet and greet with the hotel staff but not until the end of our stay because we didn’t know it was on. Thank you all for a perfect stay we really did love you all and had the most amazing time.

We were well received and stayed in the newly renovated bungalows, clean & well equipped. Pools are clear and clean.  Plenty of towels when needed at Lulu's cabana right beside the nummy Coffee Shop. This, our 16th visit to St.Lucia.  Food and service were excellent and my wife is a picky eater.  Do try the Chef's table on Friday nights. Chef Alvin puts on a great show. Afterwards enjoy the wonderful views of Castries, even Martinique in the distance. Birthdays and other special anniversaries don't go unnoticed, staff signing "Happy Birthday" at the restaurant, and some lucky people even getting abirthday cake!   The grounds are very well kept with flowers, plants, fruit trees.  We never get tired of seeing all the hummingbirds and butterflies going from flower to flower.  The Bel Jou offers a convenient free shuttle service into town or, for a few dollars, you can go into Rodney Bay.  Bel Jou offers excursions directly like the drive-in volcano & botanical gardens, Pigeon Island etc. There are just too many staff members to thank; all amazing , friendly and most attentive.  The General Manager, Mr.Dean Laforce,  is to be commended for the work he does operating 7 days a week 24 hours a day so efficiently.  Thank you very much for a very memorable vacation sir. We look forward to returning to the Bel Jou one day "very soon"

Having read through most of the online reports on Bel Jou - good and bad, we knew pretty much what to expect - except for the accident, which blocked the only main road North to South turning a pleasant one-hour ride from the airport to the hotel into a five-hour ordeal. Not a good start. But our welcome at the hotel was very friendly and first impressions were good - although the complimentary bottle of Bubbly promised by Blue Bay Travel never materialised - good job we're not wine drinkers. Our room on the third floor of the main block was only one flight of steps from the upper pool area and had a superb view over Castries town. The twin beds were comfortable but neither was big enough for us to sleep together. The small corner shower and the bathroom fittings were a little old fashioned but it was all clean, tidy and OK. After two nights we requested a room change. The newly refurbished 'Bungalow rooms' were much nicer but with no view and sadly none were available so we were offered a 'Garden room' on the ground floor of the main block at pool level. This was much better with a larger, more modern shower and a single, Super-King bed. We didn't really miss the view - we saw it from the restaurant at every meal. We were fully aware of the hillside location of the hotel so the fifty-six steps from our room to the restaurant level didn't bother us. In fact we welcomed the climb several times a day as a little workout to burn off some of the calories we would inevitably pile-on. The hotel was not very busy so we had no trouble finding sunbeds around the pools or a nice table for our meals and we quickly found people to chat to among the, mostly British, guests. To their credit the hotel management didn't pare-down the activities or entertainment, which included nightly live music, a weekly barbecue with a live show and various other games to join in with if you wished. All-inclusive is, I believe, the only option at this hotel and it's pretty comprehensive. A self-service pool bar is open from 10 am every day with draught beer, Rum Punch, Wines, Spirits, mixers, soft drinks and Slush Puppies. Cocktails are available from the other two bars. We'd seen glowing reports on the high standards of the food at Bel Jou but our expectations were exceeded. The food was fantastic - as varied and tasty as anywhere we've ever been - even five star resorts. A particular delight was the (surprisingly) unpublicised, Friday evening 'Chefs Table' event where a maximum of twelve guests, on one table in the buffet area are treated to an intimate demonstration of food preparation and cooking of a special, four course meal - just for them by head chef, Alvin. We only learned about it from another, regular guest so we booked our reservation at reception. Although there is a free, regular shuttle bus service from the hotel to the local Market and Beach, other guests reported being hassled and were not particularly impressed with either so we gave it a miss. But we did visit Rodney Beach and the local Mall one afternoon and took a Sunset Cruise to The Pitons where we snorkelled off a safe, sandy beach in shallow water teeming with beautiful fish. The weather throughout our stay in early July was perfect but for a couple of showers. We both suffered a few mozzie bites during the first couple of days as did several other guests to varying degrees so we slapped-on the ‘Jungle Formula’ for the remainder of our stay. The hotel ‘smoked’ the entire grounds once a week and sprayed all the rooms. The hotel’s grounds and gardens are beautifully maintained but we could have done without the couple of hours, almost daily ‘strimming’ with an un-silenced petrol strimmer – especially when it was near the pool. Both pools were well maintained and the perfect temperature and we spent much of the day just chatting in the water. I even found myself enjoying the morning 'Aquarobics' led by the enthusiastic entertainments manager, Jaffre. In summary we had a wonderful, reasonably priced, 10 day, mid-year break at the lovely Bel Jou hotel. The friendly, helpful staff are all a great asset to the company. Bel Jou is definitely on our list for a return visit.

I would like to praise the staff and most of all the quality of the food. There is an a la carte 4 times a week, the quality of the food has blown us away my sincere thanks. All other aspects of the hotel are of the highest standard and every staff member will go out of their way to help. Please keep in mind this is a small and very intimate sized hotel, not Ibiza life style. Thank you again for a wonderful Caribbean experience love room 105.
