Waterfalls
Portland’s outdoors is as vibrant as its indoors, with waterfalls acting as jewels in its crown. A favourite of photographers, Latourell Falls plunges 249ft before crashing into the Columbia River. Enjoy the view of Bridal Veil Falls from the deck and platform, and be sure to go to Multnomah Falls, the most visited natural recreation site in the Pacific Northwest.

Stroll along the Portland Waterfront, weekends from March-Christmas Eve, to see vendors showing off their arts and crafts. Hop from booth to booth to enjoy delicious food, all to the soundtrack of street musicians.

Portland’s food scene is as unique as the city itself, combining a farm-to-table philosophy with the back bone of the great cuisines of the world. A few culinary suggestions include:

Fried chicken: Try the crispy chicken leg accompanied by pan-fried bread and spicy curry sauce at Hat Yai.

Donuts: Even The Simpson’s gave VooDoo Doughnut a shout out, although there are many others to try.

Ice Cream: Salt and Straw offers some of the best ice cream on the West Coast. You’ll find them at a few locations here as well as in California and Washington.

Sit down: Enjoy French-inspired food and a wide variety of exciting wines in an intimate dining room at Le Pigeon.

Charcuterie: Have what Bon Appetit magazine called “The best charcuterie in America” at Olympia Provisions.

If Szechuan Cuisine is what you crave, try Duck House. Mmm, dumplings.
