Fun vacation spot, Inconsiderate of allergies

Giulia B on Jan 28, 2023

Amazing vacation spot! Staff really nice and would definitely come back. However the all you can eat buffet has so many options for “regular” food with no accommodations. Gluten free options are not offered unless asked in that case you get a slice of cornbread. The food card saying what it contains is not accurate at all and people with allergies are not at all put into consideration.

Food Poisoning On Day ONE !

michellemark82 (New Jersey) on Jan 25, 2023

Stayed at this hotel with 4 other adults, The 1st night we ate at XUL-HA I was the only person to order the Raw salmon with salad with balsamic dressing Within Two hours my stomach was making noise ,So I excused myself and went back to my room . I vomited 22 times in the next two days . Finally I could not stand up anymore called the front desk and explained what was going on . And they had no clue and I was transferred to Jaqueline At The concierge desk .She also had no clue & said she would try to LOCATE the manager . I called back the front desk and requested the manager I was told they have no idea where he was .I again explained the situation .At that point the guy goes OH you need a doctor? I said yes ,The manager Leno Finally called me & asked me all sorts of questions and stated he would call the Dr. But First Jaqueline came to the room for me to sign a paper 1st Not Holding the resort responsible, So I signed it just so the Dr. would come The Dr. came and stated I had food poisoning prescribed two meds, which my husband had to go pay for at the front desk I again called the front desk for help to clean up the room since I was very sick They sent 3 people and when they arrived no one spoke English & they had no idea why they were there . Two people left ? And the regular room service person Anna helped me clean the room she was The Most amazing person on this resort I was not able to eat all week except for bananas & rice This was my husbands & My Birthday week It was totally ruined Because of food poisoning My Husband had to stay by my side and take care of me and our Friends who we haven't seen in over two years had to do there own thing

Beautiful Beach!

CandiceC287 (Chicago, Illinois) on Jan 24, 2023

This is a great small, all-inclusive resort. Here are our pros and cons. Pros: -It's very clean and any maintenance issues are addressed immediately. Our A/C broke and we were upgraded to a nicer room promptly. -The entire staff was friendly and ready to help. Manuel, at the main bar was fun, kind, and made excellent drinks! -There was some form of entertainment from 8:00pm to midnight daily. -Food was very good. -Their attention to being eco-friendly is laudable. You are given two water bottles upon arrival that can be refilled at any of the numerous water bottle refills throughout the resort. -The beach is very well-kept and the water crystal clear. Cons: -The snack bar open late night needs something besides just pizza and burgers. Even fries and cookies would be a nice addition! -The DJ at the Mexicali Bar each night needs to vary the music from just local pop. I would say the average age when we were there was 40s-50s, so some music that appeals to all age groups would be more fun. When the DJ sees most everyone leave after a couple of songs, read the room and know to mix it up. -Maintain the bicycles. While it's nice to have them there to use, many were broken. -The resort is very pretty except all of the interior hallways are simply all stark white and looks more like a hospital than a tropical resort.

The Good, Bad & the ugly

Paco609 (Nipigon, Canada) on Jan 08, 2023

The good. This resort is in a gated area, beach was very nice and clean. Food was good, staff very helpful and polite (Humberto, Enrique at the buffet.our chambermaid Aurora. Just to mention a few. Bar staff /snacks awesome bunch.a bit of a walk to 5th ave.rooms were clean. No issues entertainment is limited, after 11 PM resort very quiet and boring. Bad: upon arrival had to pay a tax and Pay for security box. This three floor resort does not have an elevator. If you’re young and want to have a good time this is not the place for you. Majority of the people are retired.very few kids here. Ugly: during this Sunwing issue with flight and delays. Our Sunwing representative quit. We had no information on what was going on. So on our last day. With no help. Resort manager came up to us” as of 5:30 pm.” You can purchase an extra night for 3 with a 25% discount- Total of $750 US for one night or get kicked off the resort. Well we ended up taking a Taxi for $100 US to the airport ??, we weren’t allowed to stay in the lobby like other resort. There were another 4-5 families that had the same issue. Hasta la vista.

Great Trip!

jennagM6813TT on Jan 07, 2023

We traveled here on our honeymoon and it was a great experience! The bartenders Christian and Manuel were fantastic and the hospitality they provide for the guests is top tier. The resort provides both entertainment and relaxation. We couldn't have asked for more on our first trip as a married couple!
