Had a great vacation

We stayed here with our 1yr old daughter and friends. We really enjoyed our time here. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The food was really good for resort buffet. The rooms are clean and beautiful. The outside is so beautiful and well kept. A special thank you to Miguel at the main buffet for his exceptional service! He was so happy, friendly and personable. He really made our time here special. He’s great at his job and went beyond to make our vacation relaxing. Thank you for the beautiful vacation Catalonia

Exceptional service and atmosphere.

This resort was one of the best we have visited in the price range. The food was good and consistent. The service was amazing especially Manuel at the pool bar. He never let our drinks run dry. He remembers everyone’s order and is extremely friendly. All in all this was a great experience.

Mexican Vacation

joe6695 (Radium Hot Springs, Canada) on Jan 25, 2023

Our trip was All Inclusive, This is a smaller resort ( about 500 rooms) so it is easier to get around. Overall the resort is clean and in good repair. Our main floor garden view room was very clean and made up everyday with fresh towels and bottled water in the mini fridge. Wi-Fi in the room and around the resort was excellent. The beach is small and very rocky so makes it hard to walk. Buffet was good. The ala carte restaurants were a disappointment for us. This a personal opinion some may find them good. The ride from the airport to the resort is very long ( minimum 1.5 hrs.). Little to no shopping near the resort. There is a free shuttle to Playa de Carmen about 3/4 of an hour away. A complaint would be there doesn't seem to be enough loungers for the number of guests. You have to get a beach towel on a chair early (about 7 am) in order to have a place to sit. Weather was perfect. Staff very accommodating and hard working although not all were able to understand or converse in English. My wife had downloaded a google app for instant translation which made it much easier to communicate. Finally a shout out to Noe (our housekeeper), Alberto (bartender), Siul (front desk).

Wonderful family stay at the Catalonia Riviera Maya

558leslies (San Francisco, California) on Jan 24, 2023

We stayed at the Catalonia Riviera Maya for the week leading up to Christmas Day with our family (8 guests total). I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel in many ways. The staff is wonderful, first of all. The evening entertainment and shows were better than expected. The buffet food was plentiful and there was enough variety to not get bored, as long as you arrived early. Towards the end of the dinner service there was limited selection, which is understandable, and prevents waste. The a la carte restaurants were also great! We loved the steak house the most, but also tried the Italian and Mexican restaurants and they were equally tasty. My kids lived on ice cream and crepes by the pool, and loved spending their days jumping from pool to pool. My 2 year old was obsessed with the Agouti! She would get so excited when she saw them (they are everywhere!). We were there at probably the busiest time of year, so some drawbacks were that the pool loungers were totally booked up by 8am. If you hadn't put towels down by that time, no pool loungers for you. The reservation system for the restaurants is weird... they say it opens at 6am, but really my husband found that you had to go onto the app at 2-3am to find any selection. We had a large group so I'm sure that didn't help with selection. On vacation, the last thing you want to do is set an alarm to make a dinner reservation. I suggest during busy periods limiting each room to 2-3 bookings per week, so everyone gets a chance to book a restaurant at a normal hour. Last thing to mention: Dolphin Discovery is just down the street, a 5 minute walk. While I am not a fan of dolphins in captivity typically, their set up seemed pretty legit, and my kids loved seeing the dolphins practicing tricks for the trainers.

Staff friendly and helpful. Good restaurants. enjoyable place to stay but a bit remote from Cancun. Theatres not well advertised and start too late for early risers. Options re rooms and inclusions shuould be better explained. area a bit compressed.
