I'm a rewards member at several chain properties and tried to get a reservation for a specific budget. The big names gave me a rate, with discount that was NOT comparable to Iberostar Selection and some of course did not include meals and drinks, so I chose this property and am so glad. Also when I chose it, Iberostar had a deal so my transfers to/from the airport were $55 USD for 5 people total (you saw that correctly- $11 roundtrip/person deal)! Upon arrival we were met by Karla the concierge who helped us book an amazing trip, and gave us awesome vouchers we used for the spa. She also booked our reservations at the dining places onsite, which you need to do (with the exception of the buffet). Karla is amazing. The bars serve very good liquor and the staff know how to mix.nThe buffet is amazing and much more that typical AI good, regional and culturally amazing at each meal- like we look forward to going. Imagine eating a dessert that's not loaded with sugar but sweet enough- amazing fruits, meals and they filter their water 5x. Hotel room was clean, the view of the Sea was AMAZING EVERY MORNING, bed was ok, but how much sleeping should you do in Cancun, verdad? We will be back to an Iberostar property. If you get the chance to see more of Iberostar, aka for a tour of the property, and find that you want to explore other parts of the world, consider joining the membership club ask for Angel, he's superb. Our very opinionated teens were highly impressed from day one to the end. This is the brand we look forward to using for future vacations

We just stayed a few nights at Iberostar Selection Cancun and, overall, we had a good experience but we notice that some things needs to be addressed.
Pros: The beach is very nice, always beach beds available, good restaurants, the 24 hrs cafeteria service, etc. Ah, and very important, environmental friendly with the refillable amenities (soap, shampoo, body lotion).
Cons: Very dated rooms (needs remodeling), very limited options in the bar (liquors, beers, etc) and also limited stock in the minibar.
The Motel 6 of Cancun

Do. Not. Stay. Here. We spent way too much money to be here and it feels like I’m at a motel 6 in the USA. We booked a king size bed and when we checked in they told us we had 2 twin size. They ended up doing us a “favor” and gave us what we paid for. As soon as we got to our room it was gross. We attempted to shower and the drain was clogged. We went down to the lobby to get someone to come and fix it and we were told they could come right away. Over 16 hours later, no one still came. We ended up having to clean the shower drain ourselves and it was beyond disgusting. Also immediately when we checked in we were swooped in to take their timeshare type concept. The 1 1/2 hour tour ended up being 2 1/2 hours and when we said we weren’t interested, they were very rude and practically rushed us out the door. The pictures online were very deceiving on what we actually got. The place is under construction, the jacuzzi feels like a cold bath, the tile is broken in the room and even though you think you are paying for “all inclusive” there are so many restrictions. We stayed for 6 nights (7 days) and we were only allowed 3 dinner restaurant reservations. Also we had to go to the lobby countless times because our room key kept becoming inoperable. I could go on and on but at the end of the day, their management doesn’t care about their customers/ guests.

Booked directly through iberostar. Booked a specific room, was told that we’ll be pickup from the airport. BIG mistake in trusting iberostar staff on their words.
1. Nobody came to pick us up at the airport. Their own transportation company said they don’t see my name in their roster.
2. I am not given the room I was promised when taking the payment on the phone.
3. We were willing to downgrade from a villa to a standard room but we were told that we won’t get any refund.
4. There was NO vegetarian food in the buffet. RIU easily beat them on their buffet. My wife starved the first night.
I’m willing to give my luck another chance by asking to reimburse me and move to another hotel tomorrow morning

Great 8 day trip

2nd time visiting and it was another great trip. The food was very good and the place is beautiful. The games by the pool and the entertainment team was great. We will be back again for sure!!
