The Golden Parnassus Resort & Spa is an All Inclusive resort for adults in Cancun with special services and facilities, such as welcoming rooms with private balcony with views, 24-hour room service, swimming pool, outdoor Jacuzzi, illuminated tennis court, fitness center, SPA area with treatments, theater and entertainment for adults, among many other services.
This hotel is located near Secrets The Vine, Sandos, and Ritz. However, this hotel is not competing for the same demographics. If you need a wine menu, this is not the place for you.
The hotel is clean, great staff, and there no hidden fees. There is a safe and key. No charge unless you lose the key. Just a clarification point as I see some negative reviews with false information.
I mainly ordered room service as I was worried about COVID. The restaurants didn't look ventilated enough for dine-in during a viral pandemic. Room service was prompt and delicious. However, avoid the desserts and pineapple juice. The flavor isn't there. I tried almost half the items on the room service menu. The best items are Chicken BBQ Burger (ask for extra chicken otherwise it'll be barely enough meat), Salmon with no Risotto, and Chicken Wrap. Flank Steak was also good, but a bit salty.
I would not be revisiting this hotel in the future. I am the type of person that does need a wine menu. The issue is the Tripadvisor score list this as 4 1/2 star resort with some other websites. However, the amenities and dated decor really makes this place a 3 star resort. Nothing is wrong with 3 star resorts, but the false impression draws the wrong impression. If you can afford a 4 star resort and prefer more amenities, I highly recommend you skip this place. I'm still giving this 4/5 rating because it is one of the best 3 Star Resort I stayed in. The staff here provide service level beyond the quality of a 4 1/2 star resort though.
Please don't get tempted by the low price and think this place is a bargain. The hotel is priced very competitively because it is providing 3 star resort amenities.
I must reiterate that if you can afford more, and desire a 4 star resort.... This place is not it.
Another great trip
Jun 14, 2021
We just returned from our 4th trip to the GP.
-The staff is amazing--even our cab driver on the way from the airport said this! From the moment we walked in, Silverio and his team were top-notch, Jacobo at the desk was extremely helpful, even remembering my name the next day! Bartenders Fonsi, Fermin, and Edith are the best! Also, our housekeeper Paty kept our room extremely clean and stocked with water and towels each day.
-Food--the food is very good. We got food from everywhere, including room service. While we preferred some meals over others, it was always good, and there's a good variety. Sumo was our favorite restaurant, and there were seasoned sushi lovers and very hesitant sushi eaters in our group. We liked it so much that went there for dinner 2 nights in a row! We weren't sure what the buffet would be like due to Covid, but they still had a wide selection (all individually wrapped or served by staff) and more made-to-order items than ever, so it was excellent! Also, if you happen to be there on the "Mexican fiesta" night (Friday), you're in for a real treat! The food was SO delicious, and the entertainment was fun!
-Drinks--absolutely delicious! Our favorites were the Golden Parnassus and the Corinto! We were hoping to have a swing at the Dolphin Bar on the beach, but it's still being rebuilt. It was fun to see the progress of their work throughout the week!
-Entertainment--the entertainment staff was, once again, hilarious and very enjoyable to chat with. The poolside music kept things fun and light. While they did offer some activities during the day (water aerobics and volleyball), we missed some of the usual programming (bingo, crazy game, nightly shows, etc). We're hoping when we return in the future, more of those activities will be back.
-Facility--yes, parts of the hotel are a bit dated, but it's all extremely clean, and we didn't really mind. It means more to us to be greeted by a warm smile than a grand facility. Our room seemed to be freshly painted and was also very clean. The hotel room, including the shower and bathroom are pretty large. The bed (we had a king) was fine for us, though my husband (who is 6' tall) found that his feet hung off the end of the bed. The biggest downside was that the a/c in our room just never seemed to cool down quite enough. We kept the dark curtain drawn at all times, and while it was never uncomfortably warm, a degree or two cooler would have been nice. We called the desk and requested a fan, but they said they were out. It should be noted that the rooms of the other two couples we were with did not have this problem, so it seems kind of hit or miss.
-Spa--the SPA y'all! My husband and I tried the spa for the first time. It was excellent! We had
massages and facials. The prices were extremely reasonable, and we got the star treatment! It was clean and very relaxing, and we even got to be in the same room for our treatments. We would definitely book there again, and would recommend it to anyone.
-COVID test--was extremely easy to schedule, the staff at the table in the lobby were very helpful, as was the staff in the clinic. It was super convenient and our results were emailed to us in less than an hour.
-Fees--other reviews have stated that there were a lot of fees, but just to be clear, there are no fees for towels, key cards, or safe keys as long as they are returned upon check out. If you do not return
these items, then yes, there is a fee, but otherwise you pay nothing for them. The only fee that you have to pay is an environmental tax that we've been charged every time that we've been there, beginning 7 years ago.
All in all, this was just the getaway we'd been hoping for and once again, the Golden Parnassus did not disappoint. We love the small hotel feel with the large hotel amenities and wonderful
staff. We will definitely be back, hopefully sooner rather than later! ¡Gracias a todos por su amabilidad!
