We are frequent guests of this property, and are members of Exotic Travelers. El Dorado Maroma is the reason we keep coming back.
Jose and Oscar were the best butlers and took care of everything we could possibly need. Taylor was a spectacular Activities Director and even gave us our first yoga lesson. She is a doll. What an asset to their team. The GM, Jorge Morales, is a great manager of the property, and took very good care of us. Elisa, in the guest relations management team, was exceptional. The staff, all of them, will make your vacation special. This is an exceptional destination for great food, fantastic drinks, and tons of relaxation.

This was the most relaxing all inclusive resort I’ve been to, which was our intention. Didn’t want the spring break for adults atmosphere, especially considering many countries are still in the middle of the pandemic. They do the COVID testing on site and schedule that during your check in. All employees wore masks regardless of their job (including in the pool!) but the only place we were required to was going back and forth to the buffet inside restaurant. You do have to make reservations ahead of time through concierge for dinners but not breakfast/lunch. Also saw most men wearing shorts and women wearing flops during dinner and no issues. Japanese restaurant was nonexistent but there was sushi served at another place a couple times. Didn’t eat at Italian but did enjoy the Peruvian (great ceviche and octopus) and Caribbean one very much! Also ordered room service a couple times. Almost all of the waiters/servers etc. are so courteous and eager to please! One beach waiter who really stood out in awesomeness was Josua (sp?). Cheerful and went above and beyond to get us what we wanted. So we basically sat in a beach bed and loungers and ate all week! One day we did rent a car from the front desk lobby (so easy and convenient) and explored to Tulum, Cenotes and Akumal Bay. They also give excursion options from resort as well (marina next door). El dorado does have some form of entertainment every afternoon/evening of some sort. Fire show, singers, musicians, etc. Many are very talented…especially the violinist that played with a DJ!
The only cons….very humid rooms. Clothes got damp if left out. Outdoor shower didn’t work properly, so unusable. Private pool on balcony was colder than a cenote so I only got in once all week for 15 min.
