Beautiful Resort, Great Value
snotika (Victoria, Canada) on Dec 04, 2023
We stayed for two weeks, from November 11 to 25, 2023. We travelled with another couple, and this was our fourth time to Cozumel, but first stay at Iberostar. The rooms are a bit small, but well laid out, and very clean. The bathroom has lots of room for two people to store toiletries etc. Closet space was good, but could use a few more hangers. The bed was a bit on the hard side for my taste, but plenty of pillows, and decent bedding so it was pretty comfortable. The air-conditioning worked well, as did the fan to keep us cool at night. It rained for a couple days when we first arrived so the humidity was crazy, but the fan helped dry things out a bit. The smell from the sprinklers was pretty bad - but didn't last long. The balcony was really nice, and big. My husband and I really enjoyed our morning coffees out there. We had a south-facing balcony that also allowed us to dry our bathing suits, and dive suits a bit (I brought a clothes line with me that I found on Amazon). The fridge was always stocked with cold beer/soda and we really like the re-fillable water bottles so clean water was never an issue. Housekeeping did a FABULOUS job in restocking the fridge and cleaning the room daily. We were in room 3611. The food......buffet was good and we were always able to find something yummy. I really appreciated the eggs made to order in the morning, and variety of juices/coffee/latte....whatever you want. The Japanese restaurant was good - but it does get very busy, and is very loud. We did not enjoy the Smokehouse at all - we thought the food was limited in choice, and ours was stone cold when we got it. The Mexican restaurant was okay, but we much preferred Mexican night at the buffet. We found the service in the buffet to be really good too - and shout out to Cindy who was always so funny, sweet and attentive. We also wanted to give a shout out to Maria at the concierge desk who was always so helpful and to Adrienne and Reyes tending bar in the Prestige section. LOVE the mango margaritas with Tajin. Can't wait to go back next year - we are already booked!
Disappointing.

Disappointing! The Iberostar used to be a great place to stay while in Cozumel. Sadly all that changed after the pandemic. IMO it went from being great to just average. They also seem to allow cruise ship people to visit the resort which adds more strain to an already taxed staff. The entertainment was not what it used to be either.
