Basic hotel with high costs

ryansnurse (Salt Lake City, Utah) on Jul 03, 2022

This was a standard hotel that was priced quite high for what you got. Hot tub was out of service with no estimated date of repair. The hotel offered us to go 0.4 mile down the street to their sister hotel to use their hot tub. No servicing of rooms was available due to Covid. Location was good for walking into town.

Not What you Think

QQQdf on Jun 28, 2022

We stayed for three days and stayed in quite frankly a very dull room with two queen beds. It seems on our trip across Canada that it's very easy for the hotels to say no room service bed making or cleaning. Just to dump towels and coffee on the floor in a plastic bag is not acceptable when you are paying these prices. You can not give poor service and keep blaming COVID. You would not leave your bed unmade at home so why would you pay these prices for little service. The pool as was mentioned had no changing rooms , so you had to change in the toilet. The jacuzzi was out if action. The menu is contemporary to say the least , if you like small plates to start, green beans charred sweetcorn and mushrooms with grits you will be fine for starters, but if not, you have no choice. The mains were a little more interesting and very tasty But little options. I'm not sure that trying to cater for the Rocky Mountaineer crowd will keep this restaurant afloat. It's a menu you would have once but that's it. Overall quite disappointed with the whole experience

Terrible start…..didn’t stay

JSM8 (Pinner, United Kingdom) on Jun 27, 2022

When we arrived I asked if the promised for king size bed and bathroom with tub had been allocated. The receptionist did not seem to have any knowledge of the rooms but showed us to our allocated room which she suggested was an upgrade. Well it did have a king sized bed but no bath tub. She wasn’t sure if any rooms with king sized beds had a bathtub. More disturbing was the dreadful stale smell emanating from the room which was very simply lit. The receptionist was not inclined to show us any other room but frankly we had seen and smelt enough and, despite the two nights having been booked for and paid for back in the UK we left to find ourself somewhere else. This place describes itself as Jasper’s most modern hotel and is clearly having some refurbishment. However it is drab and gloomy and the standards of both the rooms and the level of service are not what we have experienced elsewhere in Canada. Needless to say this is not a place I would recommend.

Nothing Special

Alastair D (Chippenham, United Kingdom) on Jun 25, 2022

We stayed for three nights and were a party of 7 with 4 rooms booked and paid for from the UK. We booked Queen rooms but three were just standard doubles. A large party from the Rocky Mountaineer were checking in after us so we couldn't get to reception to resolve anything. When we arrived , we discovered that there was no bar or dining facility - they were being refurbished. Oh well, we could at least use the pool - difficult with no changing or shower facility and no robes to walk from room to pool.... There also appears to be a decision in all Canadian hotels not to service rooms whilst guests are staying - so we stayed for three nights in a room that was smaller than we booked, that was not serviced and in a hotel with no facilities for guests to eat and drink!

Just Okay!

PerthDarter (Perth, Canada) on Jun 25, 2022

We stayed here for two nights. This was booked through Rocky Mountaineer. Our room was # 102. Very close to the main road which was not great for two women on their own. Also, the room was very far away from the front desk and it was too far a distance with someone who is physically challenged. The hotel did not offer breakfast and their dining room dinner menu was not appealing at all. We ate else where. The room was fine. Very clean.
