Location is amazing but little noisy . Great hotel , great staff . I cannot say anything about the hotel , room and staff . If you are a light sleeper make sure you tell the staff because the room of Sackville Street little noisy due to the conference square and all the bar at the next street . Parking is a little challenging but no big deal .
The worst experience

Rude, dismissive, smug, and sexist management. We arrived at the residence inn to check in around 2 pm after travelling since 4 am. I was told by staff without any care or concern that the hotel was over booked and we weren’t staying at the hotel anymore (despite receiving a confirmation email from the hotel at 3 pm the day before). We were told we had to go to a different hotel blocks away (implying we wouldn’t have a place to stay if we didn’t agree). The staff member didn’t acknowledge my confusion, concern, or anxiety. He simply did not care. The supervisor was worse. He was the absolute worst person I have ever dealt with in hospitality. He was smug, condescending, rude, dismissive, and sexist. I tried to tell him my concerns and that I suffer from anxiety had had booked back in March after significant research and that I hadn’t researched the random hotel he was forcing upon us. He also told me at one point that he was talking to my husband and not to me. I told him that I booked it and it was in my name , he can speak to me. He clearly did not want to deal with a woman. He also did not try to help at all. Did not offer any compensation (despite offering the MAN before me free breakfast). He alleged that he sent us an email and it was my fault if I gave them the wrong email. I will note I didn’t get an email saying it had changed - I received one the day prior at 3 pm confirming our reservation at that location. The man in front of me also trying to check in said his email was sent at 9 pm the night before and he didn’t receive it either. I have never in my life had such a terrible experience. He was rude, condescending, dismissive and sexist. I’m absolutely disgusted. I simply can’t believe that the supervisor who spoke to us is in customer service. We did check in to the Hilton and the service here is much better but we didn’t receive the king bed we paid for. We have no plans to ever return to a residence inn again. It also tainted our entire stay in Halifax. Given the ordeal and the added time to check in (it took over an hour to get checked in to the other hotel because they didn’t have our info from the residence inn) we didn’t get to tour the citadel in Halifax.
Great Downtown Location

Excellent place to stay in downtown Halifax. Park your car and walk everywhere. Spent 4 nights here over Labour Day weekend. You’re in the heart of downtown, so it’s busy and can be noisy. We weren’t bothered by street noise (Room 407) but we did hear others complain. Had reserved a King room but got downgraded to a Queen and rec’ed a discounted rate for this. So no worries from us on that. Room was spacious, loved the full size fridge! We declined cleaning for our entire stay. Free buffet breakfast each morning. Selection was good and always plentiful. Staff worked hard to keep things stocked and clean. Parking is at a premium. Our first night there we had to park on the street. Checked the next morning at 7:00 and due to someone checking out early we could get a spot in the garage for the remainder of our stay. If you park on the street ask the front desk what side you should be on (I think this changes daily) and remember to move your car by 8:00am. Would definitely stay here again.
Not a bad little place. Great location. N

Stayed here in n July, in the middle of both Jazz fest and Pride week. It was a great location central to the boardwalk, and easy waking all over town. Breakfast… typical buffet stuff, I have had much better but also much worse. It worked for a quick coffee and fruit/yogurt for the kids. Room was a good size for our family of 4. Relatively clean, but also nothing too new or modern. Run of the mill Residence inn quality. Although … it smelt really stuffy to the point we had to go out and buy candles .. no idea what it was .. lack of ventilation or something. Staff was friendly and parking on site was easy. Best part .. location .. worse … smell/stuffiness… otherwise it’s a residence in.
Worst experience ever

We usually live in Residence Inn on family vacation, and the night we spent at this one (address: 1599 Grafton St, Halifax, Nova Scotia) was worst oexperience we have ever had. The hotel is located at prime downtown area, the room is standard Residence Inn size and clean. Upon checked in, we noticed there is a portal air condition in the room. And because of that, the window can’t be fully closed. Please see the attached pictures. When we returned the hotel after dinner, and about to sleep, there was a street music festival happening across the street. With all the loud live band and singing, hence the window couldn’t be fully closed, it was impossible for us to sleep. The live music ended at 3:00am!!!! By the time the crowd disperse, it was almost 4:00am!!! We called the front desk at 1:30am, they offered us the earplugs, but we didn’t use them because we worried that if we use the earplugs we would miss the alarm, coz we had a flight to catch. We were also been told that the hotel management knew this is happening and they tried to negotiate with the business association in the area but failed. It seems after Covid, there will be a lot of these types of events happening in downtown area, especially during the weekend. We totally understand they need these activities to attract more people in order to boost up the business in the restaurants and bars. However, if you are a tourist like us need to find a place to sleep, don’t choose this Residence Inn. We didn’t get what we had paid for — sleep! On the other hand, I’m very disappointed on the hotel management, it seems they didn’t do anything to help the guests. If the music festival is not avoidable, they should offer the earplugs to the guests upon their check-in. It would be even more professional if they could mention this in the Welcome Letter and apologize for any inconvenience, or give some compensation as a good gesture. However, none of the above have been done. The next morning, I approached to the front desk and asked for the complaint channel. Without any hesitation, the clerk gave me the business cards of the Guest services manager as well as the General Manager’s right away! Her reaction was to my surprise, and there could be two possibilities: 1/ we are not the first one to complain, and she was fully aware what’s going on; 2/ she was not trained how to handle guest’s concerns, doesn’t want to take the ownership of the complaints and try to solve the issue at the first point of conduct. Overall, horrible experience with Residence Inn Halifax Downtown, and very disappointed with their management.
