This was an amazing vacation. It was a quiet time but exactly what we needed. It was our first post COVID vacation. Our room was ground level suite with the outside shower and steps from the pool. It was clean and bright with lots of room. So worth the extra.
The staff at this resort are amazing:
- Dayana at the pool bar makes the best Banana Mamas
- Butlers Junior, Laritza, Yunoir made sure we had everything we wanted.
- Maria in the Coral restaurant greeted us with a smile every morning.
- Our housekeeper Danay was very great.
So many more people made this a memorable trip. It is our new favorite place.
We enjoyed it so much we have already booked to go back at Christmas.
Excellent post Covid vacation.

Late post. (Family and Friends)
We stayed at the Coral Level Iberostar Selections from May 27 - June 3, 2022. Building 14. This is a beautiful well maintained property.
Rooms are big, bright, airy and very clean. The Bathroom is large and has a hot tub, a stand up shower stall with a rain shower head and a hand held shower (plenty of hot water), hair dryer in bathroom, toiletries are now in full size squeezable bottles (soap, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion). Beach towels are replaced daily during the nightly turn down service, the rooms also have iron/board, robes, safe and umbrellas. During our stay, the power went off twice and within a minute the generator kicked in. The rooms do have coffee mugs but no coffee supplies at the moment, if you need coffee in the morning, go to the 24 hour Coral bar. The resort also has its own water filtration system, every day two glass bottles of drinking water are kept in the room (they do not use disposable water bottles.) – The butler service is an added bonus – Our butler was Junior was outstanding and went out of his way to help us.
Housekeeping did an excellent job of making sure the rooms was spotless, please pass on my thanks for a job well done, room #’s 14102 & 14104.
Restaurants and bars:
Coral restaurant: Serves a la carte breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food in this restaurant is good, only suggestion is, it would be nice to have a change of menu during the week. The lunch and dinner menu has a good selection of protein which include beef, chicken, and pork, vegetarian options and for seafood lovers, plenty of fish and shell fish options. We tried 3 a la carte restaurants which were operational during our stay. The Japanese and Mediterranean were good, the gourmet restaurant was not to my liking. The Steak house was not operational during our stay. The 24 hour snack bar had burgers, pizza, sandwiches and chicken wings (not all items were available every day) – good for a midnight snack.
The Coral bar: Great selection of international and local alcoholic & nonalcoholic beverages and cocktails, a snack menu is available as well (burgers, sandwiches etc.) just ask at the bar and he/she will oblige.
The Selection lobby was nice area to hang out after dinner, you can play game of pool or ping pong, browse around the gift shop, relax at the cigar bar, take in a show at the theater, sing or dance the night away at the Disco/Karaoke bar.
Beaches and Pools: Guest have access to two beaches. We preferred the small beach across the bridge, which is very nice – you will find non-motorized water toys: Hobie Cats, kayaks and paddle boats at this beach. The Coral pool was quiet whereas the Selection pool was where all the lively entertainment took place. There is children's area with a water park and children's club.
While the hotel is beautiful, it’s the hard working staff that make this resort.
Junior (Butler) as per previous comments, he was amazing, very attentive and nothing was too much for him. Larisa and Yunior were also very accommodating.
Alexis (beach bar) – served every guest with a warm Cuban smile
Alexandro (Coral bar) – very friendly and attentive
Liudmila (Front desk) – Great customer service
Maeialla (Coral Restaurant)
Ariagna (Hibachi chef)
Maria and her team (Coral Breakfast and Lunch) –
I also had the pleasure of meeting the Manager of the Coral Level property, a lovely lady named Ismara. She looks after her team well and in return her team rewards her by looking after the guests. Keep up the good work Ismara.
I would recommend this property.

Very good location and services. Unfortunately, the tourists are not there in this period to help the hotels offered full activities.
Thank you very much for hotel’s efforts and we’ll certainly choose Iberostar for our next trip.
5 Star Coral Level

Wonderful experience, 5 Star service from everyone. Food was exceptional and not expected as I have vacationed in Cuba for 20 years. It was a treat to order from a menu and receive beautifully plated food, eg. lobster, Mahi Mahi, fish stuffed with shrimp. The butler service was a bonus and very much appreciated.
Well maintained resort with friendly service - May 27th - June 3rd
Jun 05, 2022
My wife and I along with a group of friends stayed at the Iberostar Holguin - Coral Level from May 27 - June 3. The upgrade to this adult only section is well worth it. The drive from the airport is approx 1 hr. and it is the first drop off location. The checkin was effortless and we stayed on the ground floor of building 14 facing the pools with patio access to the poster beds and lounge chairs. The rooms upstairs have a view of the distant cove and probably less susceptible to dampness. you will however need to climb a flight of stairs to get to your room. The room itself is well appointed, complete with a jacuzzi. The maid service for our building was excellent with two cleanups a day including fresh beach towels in the evening.
In my opinion the best place to have breakfast is at the a la carte Coral restaurant as we found the breakfast buffet to be limited compared to pre-Covid days.
Availability of certain food items are unpredictable as supply has become an issue for all resorts I am told.
We preferred the Lagostino Lobster halves at the Corel Restaurant. And of the other specialty restaurants, the Mediterranean and Japanese stood out.
Our butler Junior was very attentive to our needs and did what he could to make our stay pleasant. Maria and the staff at the Coral restaurant were very attentive and accommodated us to the best of their abilities.
Relative to other 4 and 5 star resorts in Cuba and given scarcities as a result of Covid the food was pretty good. The hamburger at the snack bar to me tasted like a mix of meat and other fillers, although the 1” thick patty looked appealing. It could be just me. As a note, the hamburger at the snack bar on our late night arrival was a thinner processed patty that tasted good but quickly ran out.
We took USD 1$ bills to tip. Note: coins are not exchangeable at local banks and all notes should not show folded crease to the point of defacing the currency.
The resort was thinly occupied and the nightly entertainment was not close to what we have experienced on our 15 other visits to Cuba. Pool and beach activities at the Coral were non existent. The Coral beach was a bit of a hike from our building although there is a trolley that can take you back and forth when called for at the beach bar. The beach itself is in a cove and very calm with no waves. The water was cool for this time of year and could current and weather related for the location.
All and all we had a great time notwithstanding the fact that the resort is in the process of reopening from a two year covid shut down.
Cheers and happy travels!
