I was overall disappointed by this entire hotel experience. Rooms in major need of updating, overcrowded common areas, unable to book meals & activities onsite (full), & rental chairs only on the beach- ridiculous! I've been to much nicer, friendlier, cleaner, relaxing places in Mexico. All food and drink is mediocre and overpriced. The ocean view from the higher floors was nice. Beach access was decent. Shopping was easy. We don't plan on coming back to this island unless it's in the North Shore.

Great Stay and Location

We stayed in a one bedroom unit 1107 at the Grand Islander. The room was very well furnished and had an ocean view. The Grand Islander has its own check in desk which is nice and makes check in a lot easier. The full kitchen has everything you need for breakfast or a quick lunch break from the beach. The in room washer and dryer was handy as well as the dishwasher.
The complex is on the west end of Waikiki beach and has the best sand on the beach. The luxury row shops and restaurants as well as the Ala Moana mall are just a short walk away. Not to mention the shops in the Hilton Village. The ABC store is just around the corner from the lobby and has most of what you will need during your stay.
The things that could have been better included the coffee maker. Quite possible the worst design I have ever used. So much so that I didn’t even bother making coffee after the first couple of mornings. We asked for more towels the first day and did not get them. Same for a blanket for the sofa bed. We left a note for housekeeping when they cleaned our room the next day and got both. Also skimpy on the dishwasher soap which is hard to find at the ABC store. Maybe we are the exception but we used the dishwasher just about every day.
Lastly if you are on a lower floor like us, 11, trying to go down anytime between 9 to 10:30 am is almost impossible. We waited 15 minutes one morning before just walking down the stairs. If we had luggage and were checking out we would have had to go up to the top floor and then go back down to get an elevator.
Overall a very good stay. The opportunities are more annoying than anything although they are things Hilton could work on to make it a great stay.
The lagoon towers has the best beach access.

The location was great I was even able to catch the luau from my room window. The location to the beach is awesome I did a morning swim at 6:30 AM because my room is so close. Love the location away from the mall and hustle and bustle but close enough when I want it!
Nice place - no service

When we got there we really liked the resort but two major pitfalls… It’s beyond crowded and you can’t get food unless you wait in a line for hours. None of the restaurants take reservations. Elevators took 30 mins each trip literally. The staff is not friendly or knowledgeable in any way. Lots of promise but this is bit a tight ship at all.
