Beautiful but service needs work

aer151 (Charlotte, North Carolina) on Aug 07, 2022

Resort was beautiful but some service was not what was expected for cost. Upon arrival there was a huge line, people were friendly but took forever. Then no one helped with bags. When we asked for information it was clear the beep hops were annoyed we interrupted their conversation. We stayed in the bungalows, the privacy and the view is amazing. It advertises private ppl and butler but it’s not what you think. The pool is small and many people had families so was overcrowded. Two, they had zero umbrellas, it’s so hot and sunny it’s ridiculous they don’t have. The bungalow is spacious and very much new feeling. Get amazing sunsets and few steps to to left area cove beaches. These are rocky so most people go to beach on the right side, issue us you can’t drink as it’s a public beach. Gets overcrowded quick. You did get complimentary chair and umbrella. It was 10am and most were taken by that point. Check in was terrible, long lines and bad service. Butler was ok, few things we needed help with they weren’t able to but then after that attentive. He brought bottle of champagne for our anniversary which was nice. They did greet and bring water, snacks, and information within an hour of arriving. My other big issue is none of the pools had umbrellas with full shade, tiny holes so you feel cooler but still got fried. Dumbest thing ever. Two, in adult pool not enough of them, 4 total so ppl would grab them and front chairs which left no seating. We went to rent cabana after a tour at 1pm but they didn’t offer half day price with was annoying so they sat empty which were the only option with full shade. Hotel itself was beautiful. The bar is amazing views. One side you can watch sunset and the other sunrise which is amazing. Tip: use the store, they gave alcohol and could buy a case of tryon for $25 versus $19 per at the pool. The hike along the coast is beautiful and great way to exercise.

Amazing resort

BFGMelbourne (Melbourne) on Jul 29, 2022

We stayed for a week as a family of 4 Pro's: 1. Stunning location, with ocean views in every direction. Surrounded by golf courses and farms. 2. Beautiful renovation and fitout in rooms - felt luxurious. 3. Pool area has waterslides for the kids, and adults only areas as well. Easy to let the kids play with others while lounging nearby. Never an issue finding sun loungers, and great food/drink service while there. Small beach area is virtually private, and comes with free loungers and umbrella's for guests. 4. Activities were great - highly recommend the kids adventure canoeing / paddleboarding / surfing, and the horse riding along the beach paths. 5. Cafe in lobby makes amazing coffee and sandwiches, and Beach House Restaurant was outstanding. Unexpectedly good for a remote location. Con's: 1. The variety of food offerings was a little limited - after 5 days, we were a bit sick of it. It doesn't help that the pool restaurant and room service and the main restaurant share a very common menu, with limited items (particularly for kids). 2. Concierge service was patchy - some great and some terrible experiences. Overall, we loved our time at Turtle Bay, and would happily return.
