Sadly this Secrets resort still has a long way to be considered great. We are part of their Vacation Club and when we arrived the receptionist was oblivious to the kind of vacation package that we had booked and what benefits we were to receive. We missed out on $200 worth of coupons, did not get an upgraded room and were unable to partake in the romantic dinner or spa services. It is very unfortunate because there really does not seem to be an upside to being part of this vacation club. Service in general is fairly slow. Booking with the concierge sometimes took 30 min because they are so swamped with other guest. When you are on vacation the last thing you want to do is waste 30 min of your time to book a dinner. We did encounter several waiters during our stay who were very pleasant. Secrets needs to hire more of these employees. A lot of our times was spent in line waiting to get into a restaurant, waiting for concierge or trying to book events that ended up getting canceled, like our romantic dinner on the beach. Huatulco is a very nice place so I hope Secrets steps it up in the future.
Bordeaux at Secrets Huatulco
Jun 17, 2021
This is our second visit to Secrets Huatulco and our third Secrets Resort and Spa.
Huatulco is much quieter and more relaxed than the other two we have visited, but that is much of the reason for our return trip here.
The main reason for this review however, is to comment on the restaurants.
Our first night in Huatulco we ate at “Cin Cin”, the hotel’s Italian fare restaurant and the food was terrific. The service at most of the Secrets eating establishments we’ve tried has been outstanding. “Cin Cin” was right on par.
Last night, we were treated to the highlight of our trip. We had asked Abraham, the UVC Preferred Club concierge, if they had a wine cellar seating at “Bordeaux”, the resort’s French restaurant, like we had recently enjoyed at the Secrets in Puerto Vallarta. Abraham called in the sommelier to describe the experience and make reservations for us.
Jorge, the sommelier, met us at the door at the appointed time, led us to the wine cellar, which has only one table setting, and served as our waiter for the evening. Jorge had arranged a menu with the chef to accommodate my wife’s food allergy. Hugo Chavez Carrasco, the chef, presented a surf snd turf dinner of ribeye and grilled lobster tail with mashed potatoes, asparagus, snd broccoli that was not only excellent, but HUGE.
The wine that Jorge recommended was a delicious Mexican red blend that paired very well with the meal. The entire evening, from amuse-bouche to dessert, was fabulous.
Both Jorge (his close friends call him George) and Chef Hugo were very gracious and grateful in accepting our sincere thanks for a very special evening.
The bottom of the barrel for Secrets Resorts

Such a sad experience we left 3 days early. Hotel is very dated and dirty. Food is terrible. After the 3rd day we figured out if we bought a couple of bottles of wine with dinner we could get a quiet table with a better menu. The food was still marginal at best.
There are so many amazing Secrets properties. Do not waste your time and money to be left wondering why they can put a Secrets label on it. Should be a Sunscape all inclusive.
30th Anniversary Trip never acknowledged
Jun 11, 2021
My wife and I were really looking forward to a special trip for our 30th Anniversary in this special location. Unfortunately, the UVC Members team never acknowledged our Anniversary celebration in any way. In addition, the members VIP Wine Festival event was unsatisfactory from planning, communication and execution.
Please be advised that smoking is allowed everywhere and impacted our overall experience.

The resort is fantastic! VERY RELAXING! The sushi at Spice is amazing and Felipe is the best server ever! Ricardo at the pool kept us in drinks for eight days straight! Cin Cin has the best Italian- highly recommend the pizza!
