Long time guest, still a classic hotel, despite the front desk being terrible at service

Las Brisas is a classic hotel to my family that we have been coming to since 1987. We have always loved the beach and the fact there is some of the same staff from the first time we came. By name and location in the hotel: Beach Staff - Margarito, Sergio, Beto, David, Jairo, Jesus, all amazing service. Lobby Bar - Rosario, Bladimir, Jose Maria (bartender) all amazing service. Lobby attendants: all great, Lino, Marco, Esteban, all amazing service. Klein in the breakfast area, fantastic. Victor and Arturo make sure everyone at the beach is safe.
Now the bad - everyone at the front desk needs training. This is always a disaster area and is getting worse. I made 5 visits because of various issues and checkout was horrible. Don Luis is rude and argumentative. Unable to admit they made a mistake in billing and made it seem as if it was my fault for their errors. This is always a horrible experience each year with the front desk and its supposed to be face to the hotel. For everyone visiting the hotel - be prepared for antiquated check in and check out procedures and hope that you don’t need to visit them in between check in and check out.
The hotel itself is older at this point and I accept it for what it is. The staff does their best to keep it clean given the traffic. The hotel has made the choice to market towards large groups on weekends. It’s not going to be as quiet as it used to be in the past. That’s fine, as the majority of the staff is amazing and able to provide fantastic service. The chairs on the beach are ancient and the food isn’t what it once was - that’s ok, there is lots of food to explore in zihua, so it’s ok to use the hotel as a place to snack during the day.
The front desk is what makes me question whether it’s still worth going back. The worst is feeling like it’s never going to get better, so always having to go accepting that it’s going to be some sort of hassle. In reading other reviews, I can tell I’m not the only one commenting on this. The only question I have is when is the General Manager going to get serious about improving the problem?

Having stayed here many times, it's always wonderful to come back to this timeless resort. The view and sound of the ocean at night are perfect. Everyone working at the resort are pleasant and helpful.

My wife and I stayed for one week as an all-inclusive package late November 2022. The location of this hotel and the beach is amazing. The staff is excellent, always helpful and smiling. The hotel has many stairs, but this is because of its location and was not an issue for us (we like exercise). Everywhere you go there is a view or you are on pathways in dense foliage. The pool area has beautiful views, and the staff are always close by if you wanted to order a beverage. The only cons I can think of is the bathroom lighting was so poor it was hard to see, and the hotel has some wear and tear, like the adult pool is missing tiles in many places and needs some tlc. This did not take away from the overall experience. We would go back.
Returning Guest to Las Brisas Ixtapa

We returned this year after the COVID lock down to realize why we love Las Brisas. The views are never ending and the architecture is breathtaking. We stayed in the Beach Club levels and it did not let us down with the daily breakfast and nightly cocktails. Highly and strongly recommend staying in the Beach Club for those quiet nights and busy days. I think next time we will stay in the suites with the pools on the balconies. The staff is always so attentive and personal. The amenities are just right from the Cafe where we would get snacks and sandwiches to the El Mexicano restaurant for an elegant meal. The adult pool terrace is perfect for that nap mid-day under a tree. The property is very close to the village for the local shopping flare. I could have stayed another week.

Can’t book special restaurants every night and no dancing wine was terrible the resort needs some tlc. Had to make sure our room was cleaned no shows and hated to have to sign for all our meals. They only leave so much coffee. Bar service was great if you got the wine down pat. We like our wine at room temperature. Not cold
