UPDATE - 1 week into our stay

Jkkflynn on May 23, 2022

They did move us from the crappy room on the first floor to a room with a beautiful view on the 7th floor in our 2nd day here. So many amazing employees. From Susie in the spa to Guadalupe in the dining area to several amazing bellboys. Dennis is a HUGE asset to this resort. His English and commitment to customers is above and beyond. Our housekeeper did an amazing job. Everyone worked so hard and took pride in their jobs. All inclusive but this doesn’t include what they consider to be top shelf alcohol (this was a first for me). The drinks we did have were pretty watered down. Irish Cream isn’t usually considered top shelf! The food is not the best, they have a lot to work on at the buffet and the poolside snack bar. A lot of the food is cold or warm. Poolside you can’t get a hot meal, in the buffet you can only get hot food at the grill. In the restaurant the food is better but not a lot of choices (an English version of the menu would be helpful). Having to make a reservation for the restaurant daily is difficult if you have plans outside the resort. All in all, Ixtapa and Zihua are beautiful towns. The waves were huge outside the resort (from what we heard this was because of the full moon and we are approaching rainy season). It was awesome to watch. Location is great. This was our first trip this far south and we learned that Pesos are a must (unlike PV, Mazatlan and Cabo). Not sure that Tesoro is the resort for us in the future.

Very disappointing

MJCropley on May 15, 2022

We have read several great reviews and we just got here today and soooo disappointed. We checked into our dirty room on the 7th floor. The only other clean room was on the 1st floor with a view of nothing and a horrible smell when you open the sliding glass door. We get to our 1st floor room and no towels so we have to hunt down someone to get towels. The snack bar by the pool has food that I’m assuming has been in hot pans all day. The website says the restaurant opens at 6 and it doesn’t open until 7. We arrived from the states at 5 and it’s to late to make dinner reservations in the other restaurant for today. We can tomorrow but also starting at 7. Update your website, don’t feed me excuses about 254 people checking out and 150 checking in, don’t check people in to rooms that are dirty or rooms that haven’t been finished yet.

Family vacation

We came to Tesoro for a family trip. The hotel is very nice and clean. The food is okay. The customer service is great. Our bellboy Joaquin was so friendly and extremely helpful. Thank you Joaquin for all your help! I definitely recommend coming here.

The staff

stellam66969 (Colorado Springs, Colorado) on Apr 09, 2022

The staff is great, especially the lifeguard ans secutiry people. Highest compliment to Alberto, who doubles a security . The massages are wonderful and amazing affordable, especially Susie. It would be great if they would attract fewer kids and keep them under control.

Fabulous TWO weeks in Paradise!

travelfun2022 on Mar 20, 2022

This was our 3rd time to the Tesoro Resort and our vacation started with heart warming welcomes as soon as we got off the bus. Every staff member greeted us with a genuine smile and willingness to assist with our needs. Dennis (bellboy) stepped up right from the get-go. He speaks English well and throughout our two-week vacation he assisted our group with translating to order pizza, order cabs and even book our golfing. He even provided recommendations and guidance to some really cool places in Zihuantanejo. Daniel at the front desk was another go to guy that too spoke English well. His kindness and patience were second to none. He always greeted me with a smile or a wave across the lobby when he saw me (and wasn’t busy with another client). Our room was clean with a great view of the ocean. Alma not only did a fabulous job cleaning the room but took the extra time to leave us towel decoration every day! The wait staff worked so hard and didn’t miss a beat. Omar, Rosalindo, Patsy, Andy and Fernando showed patience and kindness when serving our group of 8 always with a SMILE. Finally, Juan and the janitorial staff did a fabulous job at the end of each day cleaning up the beach and pool deck. While the buffet is average, there was an above average willingness of the kitchen staff to prepare a specific request such as guacamole. Ixtapa is truly a paradise gem, and the Tesoro has become our place to stay thanks to the 5-star staff and their willingness to go above and beyond.
