Vintage hotel lacks charm, cleanliness and quiet

Bseblgrl3 (Seattle, Washington) on Oct 11, 2021

This “vintage” hotel could be so cool, but unfortunately it lacks some key elements that any hotel should possess: cleanliness, safety, amenities, & quiet. Everything from the shower curtain to the floor to the bedspread was either filthy with questionable brown stains or holes. None of the lamps or lights worked as they were not plugged in and I could. It find an outlet to do so if I wanted. With only 1 restaurant, you must absolutely make a Rez if you want to eat here- I was solo and they could not accommodate me. Most alarming was the housekeeping staff who tried to enter my room while I was showering - no knock knock “housekeeping” just a loud slam trying to open my door. To say I was alarmed is an understatement. The cherry on top was that the luau is RIGHT NEXT DOOR to the Inn - no room is safe from the pounding of drums. When you come from the east coast like me and you’re crazy jet lagged, drumming until 8:30 pm is not appreciated. I genuinely hate writing reviews like this because the staff is wonderful - polite, attentive, quick. The facility they are managing for is just…old. I do not recommend this hotel.

First trip to Maui

maggiep501 on Aug 30, 2021

Friends of mine from Wyoming arrived on their first visit to Maui on 8/28. Because they arrived a day early they could not check into my timeshare the fort night. Part of the family stayed at my house and part stayed at the Kaanapali Ocean Inn. All of us what pleasantly surprised with the beauty and cleanliness of the entire grounds and of the room that 4 of the family were assigned to stay. This hotel is hidden between the Castaway Restaurant and the Royal Lahaina Resort. It is not a newer hotel on the island. It has been given some bad reviews. I’ve been on island for the better part of eight years and did not even know about this hotel. It is hidden right next to the luau grounds, presented on the property of the Royal Lahaina. Maybe some of the people who reviewed the hotel had a bad experience. The experience of my friends at this resort was incredibly good. The professionalism and friendliness at the front desk. The bellmen, the valet and all the staff & their assistance was over the top! We all express our gratitude for that ‘Aloha’ and the safety & beauty of this property that was presented on this first night on Maui. Mahalos!

brigittej312 (Columbus, Ohio) on Aug 13, 2021

requested a first floor room for my 81 year old mother, get to the hotel, they put us on the 3rd floor, 3 flights of stairs, no elevator, and you check in at the royal lahina, they offered to put us in another room for more money, ok, you pay a forture to go there anyway and they stick a 81 year old woman in a 3rd floor room, no air and 3 flights of stirs to climb , and then they want more money, i'll never go back

Great price, better view!

We enjoyed our stay at the KOI! The staff we very welcoming as our flight came in late. We were led to our parking spot and the staff brought us right to our room aiding with our luggage at 11pm! The room was very clean and enjoyable. We were Oceanside and loved waking up to the ocean breeze and sunrise! We had our coffee each morning on the Lanai, the full moon was gorgeous!! There is no AC but they did have 2 fans. It got pretty hot, we kept our screen door open at all times! When in the room we would open the main door to cool it down and create a draft. The housekeepers were so kind as well. It was great to use the resort amenities— the beach bar was fun! We rented a cabana and snorkels, super convenient near the hotel. We also got to enjoy the Luau music each night from our lanai! If you are looking for an affordable place this is great! Not fancy but all you do is sleep when not on the beach and exploring!! Mahalo !

Get a cottage and have Maui right outside your door!

Slyspif (Minneapolis, Minnesota) on Jul 22, 2021

The cottages are such a lovely way to experience Maui! If it is “Deluxe” it is renovated and very nice. Staff is very accommodating and easy to work with. There was always a parking spot for me. This is our second time to Royal Lahaina and I highly recommend this resort!!
