Great location but price for what you get is a bit high

We have stayed in a one bedroom Suite here 3 times and this visit left some things to be desired. The pull out sofa my daughter slept on was broken but we were told it was the last week of summer and there were no other rooms. Offered to bring a rollaway but we declined. The location is great, the grounds are beautiful, had some issues with our reservation online and at check in initial interaction with staff was not as smooth as it could have been. Supervisor did upgrade to partial Oceanview because of our online reservation issues that still left a little bit of a damper on the visit. Housekeeping, security and Houseman were all great and helpful. Did not feel housekeeping was explained very well and we understand Covid but having a closer place to have to empty your garbage (or you could be charged) and get towels exchanged during your stay could have been provided/explained. Not sure next stay on Maui will be here although the location is definitely hard to beat. Desk staff and Aston’s main phone line sounded irritated during our interactions. Interesting that on our entire vacation all other dealings with staff at stores and restaurants were fabulous.
Just a place to stay

On the day of our check in, we got in early, so I called the hotel around 1:30 and asked if we could check in early. The front desk worker told me my room wasn’t ready but that I could come down to the hotel and register for early check in. I got to the hotel a little after 2 and signed all of my papers and my room wasn’t ready so the worker told me I could wait and she’d call me when it was. The call never came so I just checked in at 4 pm. I got to my room at 4:12 pm and it was still being cleaned. Everything in the room seemed okay until we noticed that there was only an AC and ceiling fan in the living room area and neither in the bedroom. The ceiling of the bedroom had holes where it appeared to have had a fan once but it was no longer there. We were hoping that the AC would be cool enough to reach the bedroom. However, it wasn’t. The AC never really got cold, even in the living room. It was quite hot and uncomfortable trying to sleep at night. Another problem we had was that we were assigned a building with no elevator, which was not advertised on the website neither were we told about when we checked in. The day of check in, my daughter tripped going down the stairs. Luckily, I caught her. The hotel texted me that day asking if I needed anything and I asked if there was an elevator to my building because my daughter tripped. The worker just replied no. No offer to move us to a building where my 5 year old wouldn’t have to be going up and down the stairs for safety purposes. The reason I chose a suite here was for the ability to wash and dry clothing while we were there. The washer worked well, no problems there. However, the dryer vents were rusty so our clothes would get snagged while drying. The one thing my family did enjoy here was the pool and jacuzzi. My kids especially enjoyed having a pool downstairs. Overall, I feel like our experience could have been a lot better. I would choose a different hotel the next time we go to Maui.
